WASHINGTON — Vice President Mike Pence and other top officials from President Donald Trump’s campaign are slated to attend a Montana fundraiser this month hosted by a couple who are adherents of the QAnon conspiracy theory, according to an event invitation obtained by The Associated Press and a review of social media postings.Republican National Committee chairwoman Ronna McDaniel and finance chair Todd Ricketts are also slated to attend the event. Also invited is Kimberly Guilfoyle, a former Fox News host and a current GOP fundraiser that is dating the president's son, Donald Trump Jr.The QAnon conspiracy theory centers on the baseless belief that Trump is waging a secret campaign against enemies in the “deep state” and a child sex trafficking ring run by satanic pedophiles and cannibals. Its supporters have been linked to acts of violence, including a June 2018 incident where a supporter blocked traffic on the Hoover Dam bridge. The social media accounts of event hosts Caryn and Michael Borland show they have repeatedly shared QAnon memes, or retweeted posts from QAnon accounts. While many Republican politicians have denounced the conspiracy theory, its followers are becoming more and more entrenched in the party. Several Congressional candidates who have expressed support for the conspiracy have won primary races in deep-red districts in the current election cycle.Trump himself failed to fully denounce the conspiracy during a press conference last month, saying that QAnon was “gaining in popularity” and that its supporters “like me very much.”When asked about the conpsiracy theory last month by a CNN anchor, Pence said he "didn't know anything about that conspiracy.""I don't know anything about that. I've heard about it. We dismiss conspiracy theories around here out of hand," Pence said. 1828

Warning: Video attached is disturbingLAFAYETTE, La. -- Louisiana State Police are investigating after a Black man was shot and killed by officers in Lafayette, Louisiana, on Friday.State police say shortly after 8 p.m. on Friday, the Lafayette Police Department responded to a disturbance involving a person armed with a knife at a convenience store. Officers encountered 31-year-old Trayford Pellerin of Lafayette in the parking lot of the convenience store on NE Evangeline Thruway. As officers tried to apprehend Pellerin, troopers say he fled the scene and a foot pursuit ensued. Officers deployed Tasers as they pursued Pellerin, but they were ineffective.Pellerin, who was still armed with a knife, attempted to enter an occupied convenience store along the NW Evangeline Thruway. Officers discharged their weapons and Pellerin was struck by gunfire.Pellerin was transported to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. No officers were injured. The officers have been placed on administrative leave, according to the spokesperson for the Lafayette Police Department. The investigation is active and ongoing. Investigators with the state police will be reviewing body cam video from Lafayette police.Video being widely shared on Facebook shows a man with what witnesses said was a knife in his hand walking away from police toward a convenience store. The video goes on to show police opening fire; at least 10 shots can be heard and a man is then seen lying on the ground surrounded by police.LSP, along with Lafayette Police, Lafayette Mayor-President Josh Guillory, LCG Chief of Minority Affairs Carlos Harvin, and others, held a press briefing Friday night that can be seen below. 1707

WASHINGTON (AP) — A federal judge has ruled that former national security adviser John Bolton can move forward in publishing his tell-all book. The Trump administration had tried to block the release because of concerns that classified information could be exposed. The decision from U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth is a victory for Bolton in a court case that involved core First Amendment and national security concerns. The ruling means a broader election-year readership and distribution for a memoir that paints an unflattering portrait of President Donald Trump's foreign policy decision-making during the turbulent year-and-a-half that Bolton spent in the White House. 686

Viewers to Friday’s White House news briefing heard press secretary Kayleigh McEnany claim that Paw Patrol had been canceled.“We saw a few weeks ago that Paw Patrol, a cartoon show about cops, was canceled. COPS was canceled. Live PD was canceled,” McEnany said. "Lego halted sales of their Lego City Police Station. It's really unfortunate."But a Nickelodeon spokesperson refuted that claim Friday afternoon, saying that the show has not been canceled. Also, Lego is still selling Lego City Police Stations on its website.Paw Patrol is a children’s cartoon that shows dogs in rescue situations. The cartoon includes dogs working as police officers, firefighters and other rescue type jobs. The show claims to be the No. 1 ranked TV program for pre-school children. While Live PD and COPS succumbed last month to pressure to cancel amid national unrest over policing and racial injustice, Paw Patrol has remained on the air. There were a few social media posts made that claimed that the show depicts policing in a positive light, and thus should be canceled. The show also caught flack for joining other TV shows in a social media blackout on June 7, which said “muted and listening.”President Donald Trump’s son Eric said that the people who were calling to cancel Paw Patrol are “truly insane.”Besides Paw Patrol remaining on Nickelodeon, the cartoon series is slated to have a full-length movie. The movie is slated for an August 2021 debut. 1450
