SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The Navy is trying to find the owner of a boat that washed ashore at the Naval Base Coronado.The boat washed up and came to a rest against the fence that separated Coronado’s dog beach from the base.The Navy is asking the owner to come forward immediately to have the boat removed. The problem can get costly for the Navy.Several boats have already washed ashore this year. If the Navy can’t locate the owner, they have to cover the removal cost.Anyone with information on the boat’s owner is asked to call the Navy legal office at 619-545-8141. 573

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The Fleet Science Center is offering a program that helps San Diego students navigate their way through any challenges they face while distance learning.Participating students will have to go through a health screening before entering the building at Balboa Park.Once inside, classrooms are transformed into individual hubs. Students each have a workspace where they use their own electronic device to connect to their distance learning classrooms. Educators are there helping with any issues that may come up.Andia Pebdani, the Youth Engagement Manager for the Fleet Science Center, said the idea of the hubs came from families who needed help juggling the work life with schools being closed.“Some families don’t have the option at home, or it’s like, ‘I needed to do this so I can do my job, but I can also make sure my student is on the computer,’” said Pebdani.During breaks, educators work on different science activities with the kids or they get tours of different parts of their museum since their doors are still closed to the public.The cost for this program is 0-0 a week depending on whether you have a membership with the center. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The Border Patrol is working to upgrade the fence that sits along the U.S.-Mexico border as more and more people attempt to cut through the barrier, forcing agents to spend time making repairs.According to the agency, an average of 540 cuts are made in the fence per year. Border Patrol says some tools enable crossers to cut through the fence in as little as 20 seconds.The agency added that, since 2016, the number of arrests at the border has seen a sharp increase. In 2016, 26,000 arrests were made. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Surveillance video from a Clairemont church shows a woman with a gun in one hand and her baby in the other, prosecutors said.The video was played in court Friday as the preliminary hearing started for Anna Conkey.Conkey is accused of walking into Sunday services at Church Tsidkenu in April and making threats while holding her 10-month-old son.Pastor Benjamin Wisan testified Conkey pointed the gun at parishioners and her own baby. Wisan was on stage and tried to calm everyone by telling them the weapon was a Taser. A 911 call prosecutors say Conkey made to report herself was played for the jury."Hi, yes, there's a woman at a church and she's saying she's going to blow up the foundation of the church,” said the person in the 911 call. Police later determined the weapon was not loaded. Wisan said Conkey had disrupted services weeks before the incident. He had tried to set up a meeting with her but it did not happen.
