(KGTV) - Federal investigators are asking for possible victims of a convicted child predator and retired Vista school district high school teacher to come forward. Tay Cooper, 67, pleaded guilty in 2018 to possessing child pornography. He was sentenced to one year in federal prison and seven years of supervised release. The judge ordered Cooper to pay ,000 in restitution to the four victims identified in the images and videos. Last September, Homeland Security Investigations agents received information from a potential victim who accused Cooper of sexual abuse. The woman says Cooper abused her for eight years when she was a child. RELATED: Former City Heights teacher sentenced for receiving child pornography“Unfortunately child predators don’t usually stop. I don’t know if that’s going to be the case here with Mr. Cooper but we have to do our due diligence to find that out," said Cher Durst, HSI Assistant Special Agent in Charge.Investigators worry there could be more victims due to Cooper's extensive teaching career, which includes 20 years at Rancho Buena Vista High School. Also of concern was that Cooper was a beloved teacher, winning Teacher of the Year two years in a row while in Los Angeles County. "He chaperoned trips, he initiated clubs, things of that nature in the school, which gave him really unlimited access to children in those school districts," said Durst. RELATED: Sheriff's deputy and wife arrested on child porn and rape chargesCooper retired in 2010 but his wife was a career educator in Carlsbad up until last year, worrying investigators he also could have also had access to children there. "These cases serve to remind us of the vast underground world of child pornography where criminals like Cooper lurk. Too often we find that the more we scratch, the deeper the layers of abuse that these predators have inflicted." said Nick Annan, special agent in charge of HSI San Diego. "Internet crimes against children are a priority for HSI, and public tips are key to uncovering the layers, locating victims and bringing predators to justice for these heinous crimes." Anyone who may have had previous contact with Cooper or has information relevant to the case is asked to call HSI San Diego at 760-901-1004. 2261

(KGTV) - "Flippy," the burger-flipping robot introduced recently at a Pasadena, Calif., burger restaurant, has been taken offline after one day on the job.The robot was taken off the line, in fast-food terms, at CaliBurger, BBC News reported, after it was unable to keep up with demand. Miso Robotics introduced the robot as a potential replacement to human cooks. So the burger-flipping robot has been switched off until coders can update it.RELATED: This robotic arm is designed to flip burgersInterest and news about Flippy's "hiring" created an increased demand at the restaurant, leading to more orders than it could handle.CaliBurger is reportedly working with staff to make sure the kitchen is working around Flippy as efficiently as possible as well. The restaurant hopes to eventually deploy Flippys in more of its locations.Miso Robotics says Flippy can detect when raw burger patties are placed on the grill and monitors each one. A cloud-based software from the company keeps track of the cook time and alerts workers when it's time to dress the burger patty.RELATED: San Diego-based Jack in the Box suggests more kiosks, fewer cashiers as minimum wage risesFlippy will be able to cook up to 2,000 burgers a day, the company touts. (KGTV) -- A strong warning from the mother of a La Jolla teenager injured in a deadly car crash on the way to Coachella.10News spoke with Eva Cerciello at the hospital where her daughter is recovering. Doctors have taken out her feeding tube and she is now awake.Sadly, her cousin was killed in the crash while the driver walked away with minor injuries. Cerciello says she’s been relying on prayers and positive thinking for strength. As more San Diegans head to Indio for weekend two of the Coachella music festival,Cerciello has a harsh warning that they shouldn’t put themselves in danger. She nearly lost her daughter last week. “She's like a miracle,” Cerciello said. Manuela Cerciello-Rahbari, 16, suffered severe brain damage when the BMW she was in with her cousin and a friend who was driving veered off the road. They slammed into two trees on I-10, 40 miles away from the festival. “Their main goal was to be there at 7 a.m.,” Cerciello said. They left around 3 a.m., but never made it. “The driver fell asleep while driving. They were both asleep, my niece and my daughter,” she said.Cerciello says she even called to warn them. “If you're tired, you need to stop. You don't keep on going,” she said. “You can’t challenge your body.”Their car was part of a caravan with friends and Cerciello feels peer pressure played a deadly role. “I know the kids were texting ‘speed up, speed up’ because we have all the messages.” Now, she's passing along her own message to other parents and their children.“Parents, they think ‘Don't drink. Don't drive. Don't do drugs…and everything will be fine.’ No, not everything will be fine,” Cerciello said.To be clear.. no drugs or alcohol were involved the crash, but she just wants people to see the reality of poor-decision making-- and says be smart.“You will never have the same life again. Never. Never. Because even if physically you are ok, psychologically you will never be the same.”While Cerciello knows her daughter's future is unclear... “I need to be strong. If I'm not strong, who's gonna be strong?”She doesn't want anyone else to experience her pain. "[If] I can help even one person, I’m good with that.” It’s is an eerily familiar situation for Cerciello.Four and half years ago, her son, Carlo, was also in a major accident and suffered brain damage. He is still in physical therapy today. In the meantime, the family has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for medical expenses as well as research for brain injuries. (KGTV) — Even with the opening of "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" this summer, Disneyland reported a drop in attendance last quarter.Disney reported the data during an investor's call this week, noting that domestic parks saw a 3% drop in attendance in its third fiscal quarter ending on June 29. However, per-capita guest spending increased 10%, thanks in part to high ticket prices, and spending on food, beverage, and merchandise.Disney added that the lower attendance at Disneyland, specifically, was fueled by fewer annual passholder visits as the park managed the demand for "Galaxy's Edge." RELATED: Disneyland offering annual passholders a 'bring a friend' discountAt Disney World, the company says guests are waiting to visit until after that location's "Star Wars" land opens."There was tremendous concern in the marketplace that there was going to be huge crowding when we open 'Galaxy's Edge.' So some people stayed away expecting it would not be a great guest experience," Disney CEO Bob Iger said during the call. Iger added that local hotels also increased their prices around that time expecting more visits. The park also raised ticket prices "substantially" over the course of a year, Iger said.RELATED: What to see, what to skip at Disneyland's 'Galaxy's Edge'"That said, guest satisfaction, interest in the attractions and the land is extremely high. They're among the most popular thing at the park, so long term ... we have no concerns whatsoever about them," Iger said.Disney's domestic parks also experience a decrease in operating income, attributed to higher costs associated with labor and "Galaxy's Edge" expenses. The company says decreases in volume and operating income domestically was partially offset by the increase in average per capita guest spending. Per room hotel spending was also up 3% and occupancy increased 2%, the company added. 1877
