But that still leaves a lot of people shopping in person."What we found is that people were willing to take that risk (of shopping in-person) but that 86-89% of folks say they know it's a little bit risky to shop, but 36% overall, that includes all the generations, about 36% say that they in fact are going to show up and a large portion of that is going to be the Baby Boomer generation," said DuDell.The NRF survey also showed a shift in the types of gifts people will be purchasing this year."You know, gifts of experience have been a real trend the last few years, but with everyone at home you can’t do as many of those experiences so we’re seeing a return to kind of buying physical things," said Cullen.Regardless of what you buy or how you buy it, the NRF is encouraging people to shop early this year, as many mail services and the post office could be inundated with online shopping deliveries. 2460

Sounds of gunfire prompted emergency calls and a lockdown at a North Carolina high school, but a public information officer says there is currently no evidence of an active shooter.Officials with the Pender County Sheriffs' Office are still searching Topsail High School as a precaution, and Pender Schools remain on lockdown.The high school went into lockdown at 6:30 a.m. ET due to reports of the sounds of gunfire. Pender Schools confirmed in a tweet that it was investigating an active shooter at Topsail High School at about 8 a.m. It added that all of the district's campuses on the "eastern side of Pender County" are on lockdown.Pender Schools later confirmed that the noises "from the top of the building" were mistaken for gunfire. Snapchat says its mapping technology was "vandalized," early Thursday morning as users noted that New York City had been replaced with an anti-Semitic slur.On Thursday morning, social media users began reporting that Snapchat's map function displayed New York City as "Jewtropolis." Screenshots from other apps like CitiBike and StreetEasy were also displaying the slur in the place of New York City.According to Snapchat, the app's "Snap Map" feature relies on third-party mapping technology built by Mapbox. (AP) — Uber finally got its food delivery company, acquiring Postmates in a .65 billion all-stock deal, the ride-hailing giant has confirmed.The deal helps Uber and its Ubereats food-delivery division pick up some ground against industry leader DoorDash, which controls about 37% of the U.S. food delivery market.
