While Vice President Pence is considered a close contact with Mr. Short, in consultation with the White House Medical Unit, the Vice President will maintain his schedule in accordance with the CDC guidelines for essential personnel."Short and Obst are just the latest high-ranking White House officials to contract COVID-19. Earlier this month, President Donald Trump, first lady Melania Trump and their son, Barron, all announced that they had contracted COVID-19. Other top aides like press secretary Kayleigh McEnany, adviser Stephen Miller and former adviser Kellyanne Conway also tested positive for the virus.
