IMPERIAL BEACH, Calif. (KGTV) - A plan to build hotel rooms and apartments in Imperial Beach is one step closer to happening. The Design Review Board unanimously decided to move the plan to city council Thursday. The development is planned for an empty lot on 550 Highway 75. It will be a four-story development with 51 hotel rooms and 47 apartments. Developers say there’s a need for hotel rooms in the area. “There are less than a hundred units of hotel rooms in IB now,” said David Brienza, the developer with the Blue Wave Project, “IB needs a hotel community.” People living in the area raised concerns about impacts to the area, like noise and traffic. The design review board asked developers for look for ways to mitigate those concerns. If the plan gets the city council’s approval, developers say they could start construction by mid to late summer. 875

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Law enforcement officials Thursday were asking for the public's help in locating and identifying the suspect involved in two separate armed robberies this month. San Diego County Crime Stoppers was offering a reward of up to ,000 for information on the man, who's believed to have robbed a Game Stop in Serra Mesa on Dec. 19 and a Subway in Kearny Mesa four days later, according to the organization. The man is also believed to have been spotted at another Game Stop on the same day as the Subway robbery. Around 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 19, the suspect entered the Game Stop store on Murphy Canyon Road south of Aero Drive, where he lifted his shirt to display a silver revolver in his waistband and demanded money from the register, according to the Crime Stoppers news release. The clerk complied, and the man left the store on foot. Around 9:20 a.m. on Dec. 23, a man believed to be the same suspect entered the Game Stop on University Avenue east of 44th Street. An employee recognized the man from the earlier robbery and told another worker to call security. The suspect escaped from the store on foot.The same day, at about 11:20 a.m., it's believed that the same suspect entered a Subway restaurant near the intersection of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and Mercury Street. He ``simulated'' that he had a gun in his waistband and demanded money from the register. The clerk complied, and the man again escaped on foot. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his early 30s, about 5-feet-7-inches to 5-feet-9-inches tall and 180 to 200 pounds. (KGTV) - A 2-year-old pit bull is being called a hero after five strangers burst into an apartment in Lakeside and attacked his owner.Early Friday morning at the Julian Estates apartments, Ed Neumeister was sound asleep. His rescue dog Hitch was with him in bed. Neumeister's brother was in his own bedroom, awake and gaming."Someone was taking off the screen and sliding the window open," said Neumeister.Neumeister says his older brother heard a noise, and saw a man in his 20s crawling through his bedroom window. He was followed by four others, including a woman. All reeked of alcohol."They told him, 'We have a gun. We have a knife. We're looking for Eric with two dogs," said Neumeister.His brother told them they were at the wrong place. While four of them left the room, the man who remained threatened their pets."He said, 'Do you mind if we kill your animals?'" said Neumeister.Moments, the four intruders were kicking at Neumeister's bedroom door. "I wake up, and I'm being dragged off my bed into the living room," said Neumeister.His memory is hazy, but he says the four intruders pummeled his face for several minutes, leaving him with a black eye, cuts and scrapes.
