SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A preliminary 6.6-magnitude earthquake that hit near Ridgecrest was felt throughout Southern California on Independence Day.The earthquake was recorded at about 10:30 a.m. Thursday between Ridgecrest and Searles Valley, in San Bernardino County, according to the United State Geologic Survey (USGS). The quake had a depth of about 5.4 miles.USGS later lowered the preliminary shake-up to 6.4.RELATED: Why didn't San Diego get an alert after July 4's earthquake?Ridgecrest city officials say 87 aftershocks have been recorded following the quake. Several more aftershocks are expected in the next couple of days, according to USGS seismologist Dr. Lucy Jones.Before the earthquake, USGS also recorded two earthquakes measuring 4.0 and 2.2 in San Bernardino County.Here in San Diego, numerous locals, from downtown San Diego up to Oceanside, reported to 10News that they felt the quake. The San Diego County Fair halted rides Thursday for safety inspections after the earthquake, before reopening. USGS "Did you feel it" responses were reported throughout the Southern California area as well.Ridgecrest press conference:Kern County Fire Department reported nearly two dozen incidents ranging from medical assistance to structure fires around Ridgecrest. Crews were also surveying highway passes throughout the city for safety.Ridgecrest Regional Hospital has been evacuated and there was some structural damage, according to Ridgecrest officials. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A 9-year old in Ocean Beach is using his lemonade stand to help others.Dylan Rodriguez sets up his lemonade stand on Bacon Street every Wednesday near the OB Farmer's Market. Initially, he wanted to make some money for himself."He wanted to raise a 0 bill," says his mother, Holly Raines.But after accomplishing that goal, his efforts became more altruistic."It feels nice helping somebody out, because, if I was in that position, I would like a lot of help too," says Dylan.Over the past three years, he's used some of the money from the lemonade stand to pay for a handful of charitable projects. He's given backpacks of supplies to the homeless, bought art supplies for kids at Rady's Childrens Hospital and bought holiday presents for refugee families."It makes me satisfied knowing that he's got a giant heart," says Raines.Recently, Dylan's giving has become more personal. One of his friends was diagnosed with a form of Muscular Dystrophy. Dylan decided to help with payments for his treatments."He needs a lot of money for each treatment," says Dylan. "It's, like, ,000 each time. So I'm trying to raise money for him."In June, Dylan was able to give his friend 0. He says he'll keep giving his lemonade money to his friend indefinitely."I'd like to give him ,000," says Dylan. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A classic Corvette nearly careened into a family's home Friday night, with a teenager behind the wheel. "Oh yea, we were just on the other side of the wall that she was just inches from hitting," said Tyler Churchill. El Cajon police say the 16-year-old driver was probably driving too fast down the hill."We have a lot of really nice cars that live up the street," Churchill said. "They come flying by all the time."She lost control, ending up with the car backward and on top of some cement blocks.Churchill and his family came running out when they heard the crash."We were all just hanging in the garage," he said. "I was changing a dirt bike tire, we heard a really long screech and a kind of gnarly crash, and we couldn't see anything because it was really dusty."Thankfully, the driver and everyone else made it out okay. "The first thing we did was run out and make sure she was ok," Churchill said. "I just can't believe she came down that driveway, missed cars by a few inches, missed my house by a few inches, I mean it was really just inches from everything, it was crazy." 1128

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) --  A federal judge ordered that the Trump administration reinstate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival program, also known as DACA. The DACA program - which protects nearly 800,000 undocumented immigrants brought to the United States as children from being deported. While the decision has been made, it won't be an easy road for the people involved. The restart is delayed until August 23, to allow the government time to appeal Judge John Bates' decision.  For Dreamers like Ali Torabi, Friday's win is just the latest in the political tug of war.RELATED: San Diego Dreamers heading to the Capitol“I was preparing for, in the next four days, the complete opposite," Torabi said. He believed he might be deported. "I was actually working on my med school applications, and I was like, ‘I need to get my things together now.’”Torabi is a DACA student from Iran and a 22-year resident of San Diego.  He said Judge Bates' decision is huge for the undocumented immigrants protected by the program. But being in constant limbo can be emotionally draining. "Having this back and forth, where one day we don’t know if we’ll have any protection and were up to be potentially deported or detained, to telling us, well yea we’ll keep the protections...it’s difficult," he said. "I’m not going to lie to you, it’s emotionally difficult.”It isn't over yet. Judge Bates ruling could conflict with another decision on the program -  expected to be ruled on by a federal judge in Texas by as early as next week.The Texas Attorney General calls the program unconstitutional because it came from an executive order.“It invites future presidents to ignore the law, ignore the will of the people, and set their own policies on the second amendment, privacy rights, drug laws, or any other important issues debated in Congress," said Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Torabi said he has hope. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A former San Diego Unified School District student and football player is suing the district.The lawsuit filed by Jason Srouy alleges he was never informed of the potential financial and legal risks of participating and playing an organized sport if a lawsuit were to be filed alleging any negligent or other claims against the student-athlete.In 2018 Srouy and the school district were sued by a referee. The referee was injured during a 2015 game and claimed it was done on purpose. He alleged Srouy had a history of unsportsmanlike conduct known and encouraged by the coaching staff.At the time Srouy told 10News he was playing wide receiver during the game, tasked with blocking the opposing cornerback. During the block, he says the opposing player fell onto the back of the referee's legs, injuring the official.In a previous interview, Srouy said after learning of the lawsuit a school official led his family to believe the district would help him; however that was not the case. “It wasn’t on purpose, it was an accident, I didn’t mean to hurt anybody," said Srouy.Srouy’s attorney tells Team 10 he was eventually dropped from the lawsuit but not before racking incurring more than 5,000 in costs and fees.A spokesperson for the district says they can’t comment on pending litigation. 1323
