Neighbors in a Florida neighborhood couldn't believe that random strangers were lining up on their street in the middle of the night for some beer. This past week, Angry Chair Brewing in Seminole Heights, Florida was been participating in Tampa Bay Beer Week and released a special barrel-aged Imperial German Chocolate Cupcake Stout for the event. For the past few days, neighbors have told Scripps station WFTS in Tampa that people began lining up in the middle of the night to guarantee they’d get their hands on a bottle.Ryan Dowdle, owner of Angry Chair, took to Facebook, posting:“We ABSOLUTELY NEED to get the bodies out of this neighborhood now.” He went on with a hashtag that said #dontparkonfern  748

NEW YORK — As people across the world prepare for holiday celebrations, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced new COVID-19 quarantine advisories for those traveling to New York City. The order goes into effect immediately.Amid concerns of a new COVID-19 variant found in the United Kingdom, those traveling from the UK will be personally served a Department of Health Commissioner’s Order to quarantine by the Sheriff’s Office. There will also be a follow-up door knock by the sheriff’s Travel Unit to make sure people are complying, according to the mayor. All other travelers coming to the city will receive a Department of Health Commissioner’s Order to quarantine via certified mail. Those who do not comply will be issued a ,000 fine the first day and another ,000 for each additional day.“If you don’t follow the quarantine, you’re endangering everyone in the city,” Mayor de Blasio said. The mayor also encouraged New Yorkers to avoid traveling during the holidays, stay local and celebrate with their immediate household.“The best gift you can give is to make sure the people you love will be able to gather together and next year in 2021."The new compliance order comes as Gov. Andrew Cuomo said he will be working with several hospitals across the state to test for the new variant to see if it’s already in New York and to “isolate it immediately.”Three airlines that travel from the U.K. to New York have already complied with the governor's request to have passengers test negative before boarding a flight. NEW YORK (AP) — A new government report shows that since the coronavirus pandemic began, the U.S. has seen 300,000 more deaths than it usually would. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been tracking how many deaths have been reported and comparing them with counts seen in other years. Usually, between the beginning of February and the end of September, about 1.9 million deaths are reported. This year, it’s closer to 2.2 million – a 14.5% increase. The CDC says the coronavirus was involved in about two-thirds of the excess deaths. CDC officials say it’s likely the virus was a factor in many other deaths too. For example, someone with heart attack symptoms may have hesitated to go to a hospital that was busy with coronavirus patients. The largest segment of the excess deaths, about 95,000, were in elderly people ages 75 to 84. That was 21.5% more than in a normal year. But the biggest relative increase, 26.5%, was in people ages 25 to 44. Deaths in people younger than 25 actually dropped slightly.Deaths were up for different racial and ethnic groups, but the largest increase – 54% – was among Hispanic Americans.According to a printed study in the Journal of Hospital Medicine, since the pandemic began, the mortality rate among hospitalized patients dropped by 18 percentage points.Researchers said the patients in the study now have a 7.6% chance of dying, whereas they had a 25.6% chance of dying at the start of the pandemic. 1465

NEW DELHI (AP) — An Indian husband and wife who fell to their deaths from a popular overlook at Yosemite National Park in the western U.S. were apparently taking a selfie, the man's brother said Tuesday.Park rangers recovered the bodies of 29-year-old Vishnu Viswanath and 30-year-old Meenakshi Moorthy on Thursday about 800 feet (245 meters) below Taft Point, where visitors can walk to the edge of a vertigo-inducing granite ledge that doesn't have a railing.Viswanath, who Cisco India said was a software engineer at the company's San Jose, California, headquarters, and Moorthy had set up their tripod near the ledge on Tuesday evening, Viswanath's brother, Jishnu Viswanath, told The Associated Press.RELATED: 2 die after falling from overlook in Yosemite National ParkPark visitors the next morning saw the camera and alerted rangers, who "used high-powered binoculars to find them and used helicopters to airlift the bodies," he said.In an eerie coincidence, a man who had hiked to the same spot with his girlfriend captured pictures of Meenakshi prior to her fall, saying she accidentally appears in the background of two of their selfie photos.Sean Matteson said Meenakshi stood out from the crowd enjoying the sunset atop Taft Point last week because her hair was dyed bright pink and that she made him a little nervous because he felt she was standing too close to the edge.RELATED: Photographer finds mystery engagement couple in viral Yosemite photo"She was very close to the edge, but it looked like she was enjoying herself," said Matteson, who lives in Oakland, California. "She gave me the willies. There aren't any railings. I was not about to get that close to the edge. But she seemed comfortable. She didn't seem like she was in distress or anything."Matteson said Moorthy's pink-haired visage appears in the background of two photos he snapped of himself and his girlfriend Drea Rose Laguillo. He said Laguillo noticed that Moorthy had been captured in their images on Monday after pictures of the two victims were published.Matteson said he doesn't recall noticing Viswanath when he and his girlfriend were at the overlook with less than a dozen other tourists. The couple left the overlook as darkness was approaching, Matteson said.RELATED: More than 250 people around the world have died taking selfies since 2011The Indian couple's funeral will take place in the U.S. because the bodies were not in a condition to be flown back to India, Jishnu Viswanath said. The couple was "travel-obsessed," Moorthy wrote on a blog called "Holidays and HappilyEverAfters" filled with photos of them in front of snowy peaks, the Eiffel tower and tulip fields. Moorthy had wanted to work full time as a travel blogger, Viswanath said."A lot of us including yours truly is a fan of daredevilry attempts of standing at the edge of cliffs and skyscrapers, but did you know that wind gusts can be FATAL???" Moorthy wrote on an Instagram post with a photo of her sitting on the edge of the Grand Canyon. "Is our life just worth one photo?"RELATED: Teen dies after falling while taking selfie in Yosemite National ParkThe couple graduated in 2010 from the College of Engineering, Chengannur, in Alapuzha district of Kerala state, one of their professors, Dr. Nisha Kuruvilla, told AP.She said Moorthy and Viswanath were both good students who were fond of traveling and had married at a Hindu temple in Kerala in southern India four years ago.Yosemite spokeswoman Jamie Richards said in a statement that park officials were investigating the deaths and that the investigation could take several days.In India, after a rash of selfie-related deaths, the Tourism Ministry in April asked state government officials to safeguard tourists by installing signs in areas where accidents had occurred declaring them "no-selfie zones." 3853

New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are imposing a 14-day quarantine on incoming travelers from states with a high transmission rate of the coronavirus."We worked really hard to get the viral transmission rate down, and we don't want to see it go up," New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. "So we are jointly instituting that travel advisory today."The travel advisory will apply to states with two criteria: States that have an infection rate above 10 cases per 100,000 people and states where 10% of the total population test positive. Both criteria are measured on a seven-day rolling average. As of Wednesday, the states that the travel advisory applies to include Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Washington, Utah and Texas. This story was originally published by Lauren Cook and Mark Sundstrom on WPIX. 846
