(KGTV) -- Dozens of South Bay parents want to know why the principal at their neighborhood school was unceremoniously removed from her post right before the school closed for Fall Break. “I’m very frustrated,” said Greg Rogers Elementary PTA President Caroline Garvin. Garvin said she learned Friday that the Chula Vista Elementary School District reassigned Principal Erika Taylor.  A district spokesman said Taylor was reassigned as a Principal on Special Assignment in special education. Garvin said the Rogers faculty was told Friday towards the end of the school day. “The looks on the face of the staff:  There were people crying.  There were people that were upset because she was a true leader,” she said.  “To take that away from us without explanation and to do it before a break so that parents can’t even be here to help fight for her is just wrong to me.” All the schools in the Chula Vista Elementary School District are closed for the next two weeks for Fall Break. Garvin said there are a lot of parents upset about Taylor’s removal.  Garvin said she confronted CVESD Superintendent Dr. Francisco Escobedo. “He said he would not be able to give an explanation not now and not in the future,” she recalled. In the meantime, Garvin said Taylor has hired a lawyer to fight for her job back. “She’s got three kids.  She’s a single mom,” said Garvin. “I’m really proud of her.  I want her to fight this.” 1529

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — A suspected drunk driver had to be pulled from a vehicle after a rollover crash in the South Bay overnight.Police said the driver drove into two parked cars while driving southbound on Broadway at about 2 a.m. Saturday. After hitting one vehicle, her vehicle rolled into the middle of the street.The vehicle she struck collided with a nearby SUV, police said.Emergency crews extricated the woman from her vehicle and took her to a nearby hospital with moderate injuries.Chula Vista Police later arrested the woman for driving under the influence.No one else was injured in the crash. 620

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) — A growing turf war over a fee at the San Diego International Airport is threatening to delay the massive project to revitalize Chula Vista's bayfront about 15 miles south.The Port of San Diego is already clearing land to make way for a new resort and convention center. RIDA Development has already been selected to build both. The issue now is how to pay for the 1,600 space parking garage next door. The Port imposed a .50 cent fee on rental cars at the airport to help finance the million garage, which a spokeswoman says is authorized in The Port Act. RELATED: Chula Vista bayfront project: Soil transportation underway"This fee is a tried-and-true method for financing a parking facility that has worked great in San Diego already. It is a previously Board-adopted and legislatively-created funding that is explicitly authorized in Port Act Section 57.5," said Port Spokeswoman Tanya Castaneda.But the Airport Authority says it has the power to impose the fees at its facility. The Authority joined a lawsuit by Hertz and Enterprise challenging the fees - leading to concerns of delays."It would have been nice before this fee was levied for someone to reach out to us," said April Boling, the Airport Authority's chair. (KGTV) - Two threats to shoot students at Bonita Vista High School spread in a snap on social media Sunday, scaring students and parents, making them wary to go back to class Monday."It kinda caught fire on Snapchat that's where it spread like wildfire and everyone was talking about it it was everywhere," Bonita Vista High senior Andrew Garcia said. It was a screenshot of an Instagram comment that read, "Shooting up on the campus Monday. I like some of you. Try to skip school if you value your life." Another comment below read, "I don't think you guys are gonna wanna hide in the 900s," apparently referring to the campus' "math village."Another threat coming out around 9:30 p.m. with a similar message.
