Days later, the Scripps Ranch Civic Association offered a reward to find the person who vandalized the field. Neighbors said they believed a large truck drove in circles on the field, destroying the turf. In the association’s August newsletter, the unidentified teenager admits to vandalizing the grass. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A suspicious backpack prompted a bomb squad response downtown Tuesday afternoon. According to San Diego Fire-Rescue, the incident unfolded around 3:30 p.m. just outside the federal building on the 800 block of Front Street. Authorities say a security guard at the building saw a man acting suspiciously before tossing a military backpack into a planter. After using special equipment to examine the bag, the bomb squad found only personal items inside the bag. The FBI said it sent agents to the scene, but that the "matter is being led by Federal Protective Services." 596

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A San Diego student has been named among those killed when an international flight bound for Ukraine crashed in Iran.Sara Saadat was a student at Alliant International University in Scripps Ranch. She was a passenger on Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752, according to the school.In a statement to 10News, Saadat was visiting family in Iran and was heading back to San Diego to begin the spring 2020 semester. She was enrolled in the university's clinical psychology program."We extend our deepest sympathies to family and friends of Alliant Student Sara Saadat. Sara was a passenger on Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752 that crashed in Iran. It appears that Sara was visiting family in Iran and was on her way back to San Diego to begin our spring 2020 term in our PsyD in Clinical Psychology program," the school's statement read. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman was arrested Thursday on suspicion of running over and killing a man she had been arguing with at a Kearny Mesa parking lot. San Diego police said 33-year-old Latisha Ingram and an unidentified 25-year-old man were arguing in a parking lot in the 4600 block of Convoy Street at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday when the altercation escalated. Kiana Smith was in the middle of her shift at Rakiraki ramen restaurant when she heard the noise outside. Ingram was belligerent, Smith said, adding she had been turned away by a bartender at O’Brien’s. "She turned her down because she was way too drunk, then she made her way this way, and a server saw her before I did, saying she was way too drunk, she couldn't even walk." Smith told 10News the male victim, who had been waiting on a table with his girlfriend, was trying to stop Ingram from driving. "It looked like she was trying to get in her car, but she was obviously way too drunk to drive, so the guy was trying to stop her from driving,” said Smith. According to police, Ingram then drove away while the man was holding onto her car. Police said Ingram drove out of the parking lot and turned southbound onto Convoy Street when the man let go and was allegedly run over. "He ended up on the hood, and she made the right turn, and he completely flew off," said Smith.The man was rushed to the hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said. 10News learned Ingram returned to the area about 30 minutes later and was arrested without incident.
