"We're not asking to spend billions of dollars and build something, we're saying change the zoning. They have the prerogative, it's under their jurisdiction, we're reminding them there are issues at stake and those issues are communities to this day that are segregated," said Ricardo Flores, executive director of LISC.Flores says the same areas that were identified back in 1930 by San Diego banks as low-income areas are still falling under that category today. Additionally, areas outside of those remain zoned for single-family homes, keeping the lower income families from moving in. "So, what we’re effectively saying is, if you can't buy a single-family home in Kensington, then you can't live in Kensington. But, that’s not the truth; the truth is Kensington is zoned one thing, single family, and we need to expand that zoning." A representative at the rally from Chicano Federation says, "We are tired of the continuation of policies masked as zoning when in reality they are policies of segregation." Meantime, Borre Winkle, CEO and president of the Building Industry Association of San Diego told 10News, "The American dream is not to live in an apartment, the American dream is still to live in a single-family dwelling unit no matter how big it is".Winkle says getting rid of single family zoning isn't the solution. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Local health officials said Thursday a new case of vaping-related lung injury has been reported, as county leaders prepare to consider new vaping regulations.So far in San Diego, there have been 43 confirmed cases of vaping-associated lung injury with three cases under investigation. There haven't been any local deaths, but all patients have had to be hospitalized. Those affected range in age from 17 to 70 years old, according to the county.The CDC has said that vitamin E acetate and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) are closely linked with e-cigarette, or vaping, associated lung injury. CDC recommends people avoid using THC-containing e-cigarettes or vaping products.RELATED: San Diego woman hospitalized with vaping illness warns others“Vaping-related lung injuries continue to be reported in the region and that’s concerning,” said Wilma Wooten, county public health officer.As of Jan. 7, the CDC has reported 2,602 hospitalizations or deaths from sudden and severe lung injuries associated with vaping.The San Diego County Board of Supervisors is set to discuss several potential local actions on regulating e-cigarette devices during a Jan. 14 meeting. Those ordinances include a ban on flavored tobacco sale and distribution, device moratorium, and restricting e-cigarette smoking to outdoor areas at restaurant. The ordinances would apply to unincorporated parts of the county.“As stewards of public health; we have a responsibility to raise awareness and act in the best interest of the public to protect them,” said Supervisor Fletcher. “Right now we simply do not know enough about the chemicals being consumed and their impacts. We are acting in a similar fashion to other jurisdictions in California, we are acting with an abundance of caution.” A second meeting on the ordinances will be held on Jan. 28. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Lime is warning riders of a problem with their deckles scooters that can cause “sudden excessive braking during use.”The company issued a safety update on Saturday, saying they had recently discovered a bug in the firmware of their scooters.They determined in some circumstances, the brake on the front wheel would be suddenly and automatically applied often after hitting an obstacle while riding downhill at high speeds.“While this issue has affected less than 0.0045% of all Lime rides, some riders have been injured,” wrote Lime in the safety update.That includes Paul Grasso, who says he was riding a Lime scooter on December 18 on Ingraham Street near Vacation Road in Mission Bay.He said he had just gone down the bridge and was making his way up a sidewalk ramp when the scooter’s wheels tightened up, sending him flying face-first into the pavement.“I spent five days in the hospital,” he said with a “broken nose, fractured skull, traumatic brain injury, fractured eye socket, ten stitches in my forehead and stitches on my nose.”10News reached out to Lime about Grasso’s crash but they said they couldn’t comment on rider specific questions.Lime has launched a fleet-wide firmware update to fix the braking bug. It should reach all of their scooters in the next few days, according to the company’s safety update.Until they have confirmed that all of their scooters have been updated, they have issued a list of precautions for riders:Before starting your Lime trip, walk around the scooter and do a visual inspection of the hardware. Is the vehicle body in good condition? If not, don’t use that vehicle; report it to our customer service team and then select another vehicle.Once you start your Lime trip, give the brake a tight squeeze. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- It's lasagna-making time in the Rosenblatt home and mom Angela and her adorable 5-year-old helper, daughter Stella, are whipping up a big batch for strangers in need.Angela says, "I think it's a very different message that we send when we put our heart, we put our soul, we put our time into providing a home-cooked meal for someone."Angela is part of the organization Lasagna Love, founded by Rhiannon Menn who first posted her idea on social media in May. Angela was one of the first ten to answer the call to spread love through cooking."It inspires a little bit of hope. It confirms hope giving it forward that somebody cared enough about you," says Angela.Angela makes about twenty lasagnas a week in her Del Cerro kitchen, which means she has given more than 500 so far. She says she started learning how to whip up great food when she was young. "Growing up in the restaurant industry you cook with what you've got," says Angela, "it's always made with love. It's always made with some really great ingredients, but it's what I can get so I can feed as many people as I can."Volunteers drop the meals off at people's doors for pandemic safety and recipients often make it clear just how thankful they are. That includes essential worker Abigail Eastman who says, "I'm very grateful to you guys in this time of pandemic. You guys are making a difference one lasagna at a time."Sometimes, there is no feedback. Angela says she understands why."It's embarrassing to a lot of people, that this is the first time they have never been able to maybe provide for their family, and you can't be doing this for a thank you."Certainly for Angela and the now 3,000-plus volunteers in 47 states feeding their communities, the true motivation is feeding the soul."I hope that is a lesson that I'm able to show to my daughter, that even though we're having a hard time we can continue to move through it and we can continue to show grace," says Angela.Angela doesn't always make lasagna. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Jurors were again deadlocked in the retrial of the man accused of shooting two people outside of a Metallica concert in downtown San Diego in 2017.In July, 37-year-old Ray Pitoau had his first trial and was found guilty of three firearm charges, including felon in possession of a gun.
