SWANTON, Ohio - An Ohio father's message about bullying has gone viral. Matt Cox's daughter was suspended from riding the school bus on Nov. 30 due to bullying. Cox said his daughter told him that he had to drive her to school the following week, but he decided to teach her lesson instead. "I realized she viewed the privilege of riding the bus and or car rides to and from school as a right and not a privilege," Cox said. On Monday, Cox made his daughter walk to school and posted a video on Facebook saying, "Life lessons."In the video, Cox said a lot of children today feel that the things their parents do for them are a right and not a privilege. Cox said his daughter was upset when she first started walking on Monday.During the walk, Cox talked to his daughter about how her actions were the reason she was walking. He said by the end of the walk she calmed down and realized that if she hadn't bullied others she would still be on the bus. The video has been shared more than 200,000 times. Cox said he was shocked when he found out the video went viral. "I was in complete shock that so many people responded when I originally posted it. I just thought friends and family would see it, and then a friend asked me to make it public so that they could share it," Cox said. "By the time I woke up the next day I had hundreds of messages in my inbox and saw that there were quite a few views."Cox said he sat down with his children to show them the comments on the video so that they could understand the effects of bullying. "She, along with my other two children, seem to show a great deal of empathy towards some of the sad stories that I read with them," Cox said. He believes his daughter learned her lesson about bullying and will now appreciate the bus ride to school.Cox hopes that when others view the video, they will learn just how much words can hurt others. "I just hope that through the video being shared kids can take a look and read some of the comments and tutorials on the post and see just how much words can hurt and cut deep and can have lasting effects on those involved sometimes in the most awful cases life-ending effects," Cox said. "I also hope that parents see the video and start holding their kids accountable for their actions and stop sweeping their child's actions under the rug with the ideology that kids will be kids. The attorney for the limousine company whose vehicle crashed in upstate New York on Saturday disputed statements from officials that the stretched Ford Excursion should have never been on the road.Prestige Limousine & Chauffer Service attorney Lee Kindlon said the state Department of Transportation conducted a periodic inspection last week and discovered "minor safety infractions" including inoperative or defective windshield wipers and a broken latch on a window.Both issues were fixed and, "as recently as last week they were told by the Department of Transportation that they could, that this vehicle was roadworthy and they could drive it," Kindlon said. "I am disputing that any recent failures of minor safety defects contributed to this crash," he said.State officials charged back, saying the vehicle was not allowed to be in service."The assertion that the limousine was cleared to be on the road following the September inspection is categorically false," said Joseph Morrissey, spokesman for the New York State Department of Transportation, in a statement. "The vehicle was subject to inspections and the owner was warned not to operate the vehicle; the vehicle was placed out of service."For reasons still unknown, the limo plowed through a stop sign in Schoharie and crashed into a parked SUV. The crash left 20 people dead, including the 17 passengers who rented the limo for a birthday party, two pedestrians and the driver.Federal, state and local investigators have flooded Schoharie to try to understand what caused the deadliest U.S. transportation accident in almost a decade. Kemerer says ask for video of the seller with the pup. TAMPA — A St. Petersburg, Florida soldier is finally reuniting with a dog she rescued while she was deployed in Iraq in 2017. U.S. Army Reserve Sgt. Tracy McKithern said she first laid eyes on a the little puppy as it sniffed around the base with its mom.McKithern said the puppy and the mom were clearly starving, and abused by locals, kicked and hit with rocks everyday. They were covered with dirt and scratches. The puppy had two siblings, but McKithern said they both disappeared.It didn't take long for the puppy and her mom to realize they were safe near the base, and would be fed too. As weeks went by, the puppy and its mom both gained weight and their wounds started to heal."She loved everyone," said McKithern. "She is the sweetest little soul. She came up to me immediately, probably hungry, but gentle. I think she was looking for love more than anything else."McKithern named the puppy Erby Kasima. Erby, after the the largest city in Northern Iraq, Erbil and Kasima, the Arabic name for "beauty and elegance."McKithern said she along with soldiers from Italian and German armies her unit was partnered with, began taking care of the dogs. McKithern was totally in love with Erby and said the puppy was always waiting at the base for them to return when they'd go on missions. But towards January 2018, as her 1-year deployment was expected to end, McKithern couldn't imagine leaving Erby behind. She decided to post a picture of the dog to Facebook with the caption, "I wish I could take her home.""I went to sleep, woke up and my friends and family had posted links to various rescue groups. I reached out to one of them and they responded immediately," McKithern said.She got in touch with one and sent them ,000 dollars to get the ball rolling."A complete stranger donated ,000 and it was around Christmas, so it was like a cute note, like Merry Christmas, or Happy New Year, it was amazing," she said.The non-profit, Puppy Rescue Mission, raised the rest of the money needed, which was ,500, from complete strangers. McKithern was beyond excited and grateful.But before Erby could leave, she needed vaccinations, documentation, and travel arrangements which became a daunting task for McKithern, who still needed to fulfill her duty as a soldier. She started to get worried the rescue wouldn't pan out. Instead, her German and Italian friends stepped up, promising to tie up any loose ends and get Erby on the plane.Erby was set to arrive JFK airport on March 11. Just days before, McKithern got word she would be deployed that SAME day, on a 67-day mission to Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. She wouldn't be able to greet Erby, let alone see her for another 2 months."I was pretty sad, I mean I mention to my husband quite a few times, I love the Army and what we do, but I was pretty sad," she said. McKithern came home and was reunited with the dog she fell in love with and saved. She said none of this would have been possible without the help from strangers, and the friends she made in Iraq at her base. "I can't believe it," said McKithern. "It feels like a miracle is happening."Erby's mom is still in good hands being taken care of on the base, but McKithern hopes she can get adopted as well.
