SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A man has been taken into custody following a carjacking Friday afternoon in Santee, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.The incident started on the 9800 block of Mission Gorge Road around 1 p.m. when the suspect reportedly threatened to kill a 77-year-old woman and her family before hitting her, removing her from the car, and driving away with her purse and cell phone.Sheriff's deputies and La Mesa Police later found the suspect, Chris DiSalvo, 30, sitting in the stolen car on the 4600 block of Palm Drive in La Mesa. When he saw law enforcement, the department says he took off, crashing into a tree and running into a nearby apartment complex.DiSalvo was later found hiding in a stairwell and was arrested, the department says.According to authorities, DiSalvo admitted to taking drugs. He was given a dose of Naloxone and taken to the hospital.Upon his release from the medical facility, the department says he will be booked on several felony charges, including carjacking. 1035

(KGTV) - Several white nationalist posters were discovered at California State University San Marcos, campus officials said Tuesday.The posters, which were found at various locations Monday, advertised a group that is identified by multiple civil rights organizations as a hate group, according to CSUSM.According to the university, the group responsible for putting up the posters, Identity Evropa, is the same group that put up posters at SDSU in February. The university believes the timing of the posters is connected to the Pittsburgh shooting.University Police removed the posters, which violated the college’s posting policy, officials said. The college is investigating the matter.“While we grieve for the victims and offer our support to those impacted – the survivors, their friends, family members and loved ones – I want to be clear: White supremacy and anti-Semitism, or any other doctrines that expose hate and elevate one group above another, have no place at Cal State San Marcos,” said CSUSM President Karen Haynes in a news release.“We strongly condemn language and actions that promote racism, anti-Semitism, homophobia, violence, discrimination and other forms of hate. (KGTV) - A well known funeral home in San Marcos wants to add on-site cremation services, but the plan is facing pushback from the community.Allen Brothers Mortuary has filed paperwork with the City of San Marcos to start the project. Meanwhile, people who live nearby have started a petition online to stop it."If this project goes forth, there are serious health risks that could affect YOU," says the petition.The County of San Diego website lists several possible emissions from crematoriums, including, "oxides of nitrogen, carbon monoxide, volatile organic compounds, oxides of sulfur, particulate matter and toxic air contaminants. Emissions of mercury are a specific concern for crematories."It also discusses rules and state laws that companies have to follow to mitigate any emissions, including secondary chambers.People who live nearby say they're worried about the impact it could have on their lives."It's a little disconcerting," says Pam Davidson, who lives in Whispering Oaks Apartments across the street from the mortuary. "There are enough toxins in our environment and around here with traffic and everything like that.""Families have kids here," says Nemai Martinez, who also lives at Whispering Oaks. "We don't know about ashes going up into the air. Plus the smell."In addition to the apartment complex, the mortuary is within steps of the San Marcos Post Office, the San Marcos Senior Center, a small shopping complex and a community park and playground.Karen Allen, the owner of Allen Brothers, says her company is aware of the concerns and wants to make sure her company works with the community.The company sent a statement to 10News that reads, "Linda Allen has heard the concerns of the community and is and has been, an avid supporter and proponent of this community. SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Airbnb announced Thursday that it’s banning all parties and events at the listings on its website to comply with limits on gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic.The San Francisco-based company says the party ban applies to all future bookings on Airbnb and it will remain in effect indefinitely until further notice.Additionally, Airbnb says the occupancy at its listings will be capped at 16 people. Though, the company says it’s considering a potential exception process for specialty and traditional hospitality venues, like boutique hotels.“We also understand that 16 is not a magic number, and issues can occur with groups of any size,” wrote the company. “To be clear, we are not sanctioning smaller gatherings with this policy and all community members are expected to comply with local health restrictions on gatherings. We are capping guests at 16 in these large properties as one step amongst several, all designed to mitigate any efforts to misuse an Airbnb for a party.”Airbnb says guests will be informed about its party rules and told that they may be “legally pursued” by the company if they violate the policy.Unauthorized parties have actually always been prohibited at Airbnb listings and the company says 73% of its listings already ban them in their house rules.Over the last year or two, Airbnb has begun imposing stricter limits, starting with a global ban on “party houses,” or listings that create persistent neighborhood nuisance.
