New gun legislation proposes that anyone who wants to buy a firearm would need to submit their social media profiles and search history for review before buying a gun in New York.Officials would be able to review up to three years worth of search history.The bill was drafted by state Senator Kevin Parker and Brooklyn borough President Eric Adams."There should be more restrictions on how guns are purchased. Hood, Texas, or whether we're in Tucson, Arizona, or Iraq or Afghanistan, we provide capability to whoever we're supporting. And in this case, we're supporting the Customs and Border Protection," said Lt. Col. Chad Caldwell, the 62nd Engineer Battalion commander.These soldiers are a part of the 5,000 troops near the country's southwest border to prepare for the expected arrival of the migrant caravan. Last week, they started placing razor wire above the border fence, a task that is not yet complete. And yesterday, the army helped close two lanes at the DeConcini port of entry."It has been a challenge. It is not a standard mission-set to be trained for back in Ft. Hood, but as Army engineers, our job is to solve difficult problems for whoever we're supporting," said Caldwell."Weld the pickets up to the fence, run the c-wire with barbed-wire underneath it, and strap it to it. The New York museum acquired the “person with headscarf” and “inter-skintone couple” emoji for its burgeoning collection of digital assets. The museum plans an exhibition explaining the significance of the two through interviews and images, but the pandemic has put an opening date in limbo, said Andrea Lipps, Cooper Hewitt’s associate curator of contemporary design.“The desire to acquire these particular emoji arose from what we were seeing as the desire for inclusion and representation of various groups and communities and couples on the emoji keyboard,” Lipps told The Associated Press in an interview ahead of the announcement.The emoji are commonly known as “woman in hijab” and “interracial couple.”The hijab emoji, as it’s informally known, was submitted in 2016 to the Unicode Consortium, a nonprofit that oversees emoji standards with voting members from the world’s top digital companies.
