SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- The battle over the Crossroads of the West Gun Show continued Tuesday in Del Mar.The Board that oversees the fairgrounds is reviewing the show that has been hosted at the fairgrounds for the last 28 years.A pro-gun, second-amendment political action committee collected more than 3,100 letters in support of continuing the show in Del Mar.The letters were given to the board for review and consideration. Michael Schwartz, Executive Director of the San Diego County Gun Owners is pushing is pushing for the board to renew the shows contract with no restrictions or limitations."It took us less than a week to collect all these signatures, we could have gotten more. Some are written by entire families who come to the show every year. It is a family event with almost a 30 year history with Del Mar," said Schwartz. Protesters also made an appearance at the board meeting dressed in orange and asking the board to cancel the shows current contract.The Del Mar, Solanna Beach and Encinitas city councils have approved resolutions calling for a ban on the gun shows at the fairgrounds.Guns can be purchased at the show, but California law requires extensive background checks and a waiting period.The board will make a decision to cancel or continue the gun show at it's board meeting in September. 1329

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The family of a missing Arizona grandmother believes that she may be heading to San Diego.On Monday, ABC10 News spoke to Aaron Richardson about his grandmother, Alice Fults, who was last seen on Friday morning in Chandler, Arizona. "You'd never think this would happen to you and for it to happen and [to] somebody you know totally tears you apart," he told ABC10 News.On Monday afternoon, Chandler Police confirmed that the 58-year-old stroke survivor and dementia patient got on a Greyhound bus on Friday morning that was bound for Los Angeles.Her family says that she could be trying to get to San Diego which is where she grew up and where her sister still lives. "She's from Lakeside so she always talked about Lakeside, California and how she wanted to go back to Lakeside," said Richardson.Fults has hearts with names tattooed on her legs and horseshoes tattooed on her arms. She has a drooping eyelid from her stroke and needs her seizure medication. Her family told ABC10 News that she left with her granddaughter's ID but not her own ID. She doesn't have a cell phone. Family added that she has a history of wandering off but never for more than a few hours."If you see this, Alice...I love you, grandma. Get some help, okay? Let us know you're okay," Richardson added.Chandler Police have issued a silver alert and are working on notifying law enforcement in Southern California about her disappearance. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The father whose two children died in a Rancho Bernardo home fire in 2017 was found guilty on all counts Monday. Jurors found Henry Lopez guilty of two counts of child endangerment, recklessly causing a fire causing great bodily injury, and two counts of involuntary manslaughter in the death of his two children.Prosecutors argued Lopez fell asleep with a lit cigarette, starting the fire that killed 7-year-old Isabella and 10-year-old Cristos and destroyed his condominium. Lopez’ attorney said a defective cell phone was the likely ignition source. Lopez woke up to find his home on fire and tried to escape but passed out from smoke, investigators said. Firefighters later found him and took him to the hospital. Deputy District Attorney Kyle Sutterley said Cristos died of burns to more than 80 percent of his body and Isabella died of smoke inhalation. "A parent has a responsibility to care for their children, a responsibility to protect their children, and if need be, to sacrifice themselves for their children. And Henry Lopez, on Oct. 28, 2017, he failed his children, and as a result, one of them burned to death, and one of them went to sleep and never woke up,'' Sutterley said in his closing argument. Lopez faced up to 16 years and 8 months in prison. 1296

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The Medical Board of California (MBC) has filed an order to revoke the license of Dr. Jeffrey Lovin, a San Diego County radiologist who’s facing charges related to prowling and peeking.ABC 10News first reported on Dr. Lovin last year after his ex-girlfriend shared home security video of a man lurking in her North County backyard while she and her fiancé were inside. She said the man in the video is Dr. Lovin.He’s been charged with multiple counts related to prowling and peeking and violating a protective order. He’s pleaded not guilty and will stand trial next March.Dr. Lovin was already on probation with the MBC for other criminal activity.The Board has now issued an order to revoke his license on Dec. 18 for mental or physical impairment and unprofessional conduct by failing to comply with the terms of his probation.“We never know if we're safe,” his ex-girlfriend told ABC 10News on Tuesday. We’re not using her name or showing her face. She said that she and her fiancé Frank Zeigler still live in fear. “I hear any noise at night and I'm out front seeing what's going on at my home,” he said and added, “We lock all our doors and keep all our blinds closed around the clock.”“We want him to lose his license so he doesn’t do this to anybody else and we feel like this is the first step toward a little justice,” Zeigler later added.On Tuesday, ABC 10News spoke to someone at the law office that has represented Dr. Lovin. She declined to connect us to with him to see if he wanted to offer any comment.On Tuesday, a spokesperson for the Board wrote to ABC 10News, “Dr. Jeffrey Lovin may practice medicine under the terms of his current probation until the revocation of his license takes effect on Dec. 18, 2020. Dr. Lovin may petition the Board for a stay and reconsideration of the decision to revoke his license or file a writ in superior court to challenge the decision before it comes effective.” 1945
