(KGTV) - The holiday blockbuster season is upon us and Warner Bros' is hoping their long-awaited "Justice League" movie knocks out the competition. But judging by the reception so far, DC Comics' favorite heroes may face an uphill battle with critics. As the movie's release near theaters across the country, reviews have started to pour in ranging from excitement to tempered satisfaction to complete disgust.RELATED: 'Wonder Woman 2' will be released six weeks ahead of scheduleWhat's is about?"Justice League" sees heroes of the DC Comics world team up to take on a world-ending threat from Steppenwolf and his army of Parademons - who are hunting for three "Mother Boxes" hidden across the globe. In the wake of Superman's death, Bruce Wayne (Batman) sees this threat on the horizon. Alongside Diana Prince (Wonder Woman), the pair seeks to enlist the help of three other superhumans to put an end to Steppenwolf's ambitions.Critics' response..The Hollywood Reporter's Todd McCarthy was one of those who found themselves letdown - completely.McCarthy called the movie a "chore," adding, "the virtually humor-free script by Chris Terrio and Joss Whedon (who was brought on to complete directing duties after Zack Snyder had to leave for family reasons) less resembles deft narrative scene-setting than it does the work of a bored casino dealer rotely distributing cards around a table."The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw echoed that same distaste, calling out the film's post-credit scenes (of which there are two) and saying, "the great revelation is very laborious and solemn and the tiresome post-credits sting is a microcosm of the film’s disappointment."RELATED: Fans cheer for Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot at Justice League San Diego Comic-Con appearanceBut not everyone was completely disappointed after the credits rolled. From Polygon writer Julia Alexander: "Justice League is a rare, anomalous jewel that pops up every few years in cinema: It can’t be described as a good movie, but it’s enjoyable at times to sit through."Though most reviews tried to establish the thoughts likely to run through movie-goers' heads: Is it better than the other DCU movies?"It’s not good, per se, and it’s definitely not 'Wonder Woman.' That said, it’s better than you may expect, a mostly tolerable movie made occasionally enjoyable by a few lively performances, one good fight sequence, and a solid punchline or two," Consequence of Sound's?Allison Shoemaker writes. However, one review that has been making the rounds may sum up the majority of responses to the DC's latest superhero adventure. The Atlantic's David Sims offers a slight silver-lining but straight-forward take, writing, "By the end of the film, some of his harsher edges have been sanded off; the same should go for the DC Comics universe moving forward." But he goes on to call "Justice League" a "pilot episode—it’s half-formed, overstuffed, and narratively a chore." 2972

(KGTV) — City officials are investigating an incident caught on video between an African American man and a white La Mesa Police officer that led to the officer being placed on leave. The video, posted to Facebook this week, shows the incident that occurred at the Grossmont Trolley Station on Fletcher Parkway. The city said the footage appears to "indicate that a LMPD officer detained an African American male, and in the process, the LMPD officer administered physical contact."The video footage starts after an altercation had already begun between Amaurie Johnson and the police officer. It then shows the escalation and Johnson being placed in handcuffs. Johnson is told that he's being charged with assaulting an officer and led to a police vehicle.RELATED: La Mesa officer in arrest video placed on leave, pending investigation“For that situation to escalate the way it did, and for the cop, you know, to stand firm in his beliefs that I should be detained or taken in with no prior evidence or reasoning, I think that should be seen by the people,” Johnson said in an interview with 10News.He said he was waiting for his friend at the trolley stop, near a building where that friend lives.Johnson said an officer started questioning him and he gave him the information that he wanted. The nearly six-minute video shows a heated verbal exchange between Johnson and the officer. It also shows the officer forcefully push Johnson into a sitting position onto a nearby bench.Johnson told 10News at no point did he resist or assault anyone."I feel as though people that look like me, um, feel the same way I do and we're tired of it. We're tired of having to deal with stuff like that,” he said.Johnson said he was cited with assaulting an officer and resisting arrest. The La Mesa Police Department did not respond to our request for information about the citations. The department also didn’t respond to our request for the officer’s body camera video or release the name of the officer involved in the incident. On Thursday, the La Mesa Police Department issued a statement, saying they are "aware of a video circulating on social media depicting an interaction between a police officer and a citizen at the Grossmont Trolley Station yesterday. We immediately began a review of the incident to find out what happened. “Caught on camera” moments are fun to watch.  They can also be important evidence when they show people breaking the law.Radius Security in Vancouver, Canada, has developed new technology to help police catch suspected criminals in the act."Every single night we are getting one or two apprehensions on one of our sites across the country," said Joel Luyt, a site security specialist with Radius Security.“We have 15 computers inside our unit,” said Luyt.  Radius Security’s cameras use those computers to scan for humans.  The technology disregards other things that might move, like tree branches, animals and rain, that would normally set off a false alarm."So they're looking for oscillating arms. They're looking for head movement, torso and they're deciphering, 'is that a human?'"  said Luyt.By reducing the number of false alarms, more officers are available to respond to an actual crime.Car dealerships and construction companies hire Radius Security to keep watch for burglars, who can make off with expensive spools of wire or copper tubing worth thousands of dollars.Bernie Godler runs Performance Construction and says the new technology has proven more reliable and cut down on false alarms."A full-time manned security gets very expensive. It seems that you know, having a full-time manned security would actually be better but it isn't because we're finding that we get guards that end up falling asleep on the job site. We actually had one job where the manned security was in cahoots with the people who were stealing the stuff off the job site," said Godler.A study said false alarms cost the U.S. nearly billion dollars.  94 percent of alarms turned out to be false, tying up valuable police time when there is no burglar.Radius says it helps police capture the bad guy, like one man who hid in a porta potty, about 60 percent of the time. This technology also lets the security company route a live feed from the security camera to law enforcement's cars."They can punch in a four-digit code into their vehicle while they're driving to the site and they can see live what our monitoring station is seeing so they'll know where the criminal is on the site and they'll see what he is doing live on video and get there in an even faster time.,” said Luyt.Right now, this technology runs upwards of ,000 a year, which is too expensive for many.  But, Luyt expects that eventually, the computer system will get smaller and be more cost-effective to keep your home safe. The company plans to expand this year to the United States, both in San Francisco and Chicago. 2639
