SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A motorcyclist was killed Monday night, after a crash with a suspected DUI driver in Linda Vista. Police tell 10News the driver of a Nissan ran a red light on Genesee Avenue, slamming into the motorcyclist and dragging them under the car for at least 100 feet. His 8-year-old daughter was in the car when the crash happened. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A local marine is recovering from COVID-19 while deployed overseas.Jennifer Dulaney says her husband, Kyle, was deployed in April and is serving at a base in Okinawa. He tested for COVID-19 earlier this month.“My husband called me on a Monday morning as I was getting ready for work and said he felt like he was getting symptoms,” Jennifer said.Kyle got worse and was eventually sent to the ICU. His condition began to worsen that he qualified for the Remdesivir. It was described as an experimental drug, and doctors needed Jennifer’s permission to administer it to Kyle.Jennifer is a nurse and knew that COVD-19 could be very severe.“I know where COVID can go, they can spiral downwards real fast,” she said, “so for me, the benefits outweighed the risk.”Jennifer said he began to show improvement on the fifth day. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A man was hospitalized after being shot in San Diego’s Encanto neighborhood, police said Thursday.The shooting occurred at around 5:50 p.m. Wednesday on Imperial Avenue, according to San Diego police.Police said the gunfire detection system ShotSpotter reported shots fired in an area near the 6100 block of Imperial Avenue. A second ShotSpotter activation followed shortly after, this time coming from the 6300 block of Imperial Avenue.Responding officers arrived to find a man lying on the ground in a parking lot of a business. The victim had an apparent gunshot wound to his upper torso, police said.The 24-year-old victim was taken to the hospital and is in extreme critical condition, according to police.Police said, “At this time, there is very little known about the circumstances surrounding this incident.”Anyone with information regarding the shooting is asked to call SDPD’s Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477. 979

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A North Park gym owner who defied the governor's health order and moved workouts indoors was served with a violation notice from the county, threatening ,000 daily fines. Owner Frank Kole initially complied with last month's order and moved everything outdoors, but after five days made the decision to go back inside. That's because he says the sidewalks outside his gym were littered with feces, blood stains, and trash. Kole instead instituted strict rules indoors, requiring masks and social distancing. But the county, while acknowledging the tough reality outside, still served him with the violation, saying it was the law. "I encourage you to work with the city of San Diego to see what can be done to resolve the difficulties you previously faced." On Friday, however, Kole took everything back outside. Immediately, he and his staff discovered a syringe on the sidewalk as they were setting up equipment. The city of San Diego power washed the sidewalk on Wednesday, but Kole says it was a quick job without trash pickup. "If we weren't out there cleaning that sidewalk up everyday, that needle would still be there," Kole said. A spokeswoman for the city of San Diego says environmental crews will pick up syringes with biohazard boxes when they encounter them. In the meantime, residents can report the on the city's Get-it-done App. Kole says he will comply with the order and keep the gym outside, even if it means reduced hours and more staff time moving everything in and out everyday.
