SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Humane Society has placed 140 rats up for adoption after they were given up by a woman in Del Mar this week.The rats have undergone veterinary exams and tests and are "happy and ready" for adoption, the Humane Society says. Because rats are social animals, the society is only adopting them out in same-gender pairs unless the owner already has a rat.The rodents were given to SDHS after a woman's pet rats multiplied out of control while she was living out of her vehicle in Del Mar. The population eventually grew to more than 300 pet rats. Many of the rats were pregnant females and are currently in foster care through the Humane Society. "They are very social, smart and love to interact with humans ... SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – San Diego Harbor Police are investigating an apparent drug overdose that sent four men to the hospital Thursday.Harbor Police said four men were found unresponsive on a charter boat docked at Fisherman’s Landing, off San Diego Bay, at around 9 a.m.ABC 10News learned investigators are looking into the possibility the men may have overdosed on drugs laced with fentanyl.The men were given Narcan and taken to the hospital. Narcan is typically used to aid someone suspected of overdosing on opioids, including heroin and prescription pain medications.There is no immediate word on their condition. 623

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Convention Center opened its doors Wednesday as a temporary shelter for homeless individuals during the coronavirus pandemic.Starting with groups from San Diego's bridge shelters, the center will house homeless individuals to help protect them from the coronavirus and continue providing them shelter. The plan is to move in 400 people Wednesday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego District Attorney Summer Stephan announced Monday a motion to reduce thousands of marijuana convictions.The motion asks the San Diego Superior Court to reduce 25,000 marijuana convictions, ranging from felonies to misdemeanors, and dismiss another 1,000 misdemeanor convictions completely.“We’ve been a leader in the state and pro-active on giving individuals with marijuana convictions the opportunity to move forward with their lives without a conviction that may have been negatively impacting their lives by restricting their employment or housing,” said Stephan. “This latest motion is the continuation of work that began more than two years ago.
