At last report, the county's first coronavirus patient was doing well.Wilma Wooten, County public health officer, detailed the new cases as:A female in her 70s who was reported to the county by the CDC. The woman was on the Grand Princess cruise ship that arrived in Oakland on Monday. The woman is at home in isolation.A male in his 50s with a history of travel to Colorado.A male in his 40s who may also have a history of travel to Colorado. He is at home in isolation.A female in her 70s who was in federal quarantine at MCAS Miramar after travel on the Grand Princess cruise ship. The woman is in the hospital in isolation.A man in his 50s who is currently hospitalized. The man may have been a case of community transmission.In addition, a public health order starting Friday will ban any mass gathering of 250 people or more through the end of March, San Diego County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher said. Gatherings that are under that limit are being asked to limit social distance to six feet at events."We are strongly recommending that they cancel all non-essential travel, that they prioritize staying in the comfort and security of their own homes, and they do everything they can to avoid large crowds," said Nick Yphantides, San Diego County chief medical officer.Mayor Kevin Faulconer also issued a State of Emergency for the City of San Diego to take advantage of financial assistance in response to combating the virus' spread."Folks we have been planning for this for decades ... and there are certain data driven triggers that give us the ability to know ahead of time if our system is stressed," Yphantides added.The county has installed about 114 hand washing stations around the region. VALLEY CENTER (KGTV)- A former North County school security guard was sentenced Thursday after he was found guilty of sending inappropriate pictures to children online. Steven Lloyd Duncan was arrested by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in December 2018. Six months later he was sentenced to four years in state prison. Duncan was found guilty of four different charges related to child pornography. According to investigators, Duncan used social media platforms like Instagram to communicate with girls ranging in age of 10 to 14 years old. Investigators say he sent photos to underage children and received photos from children. During the investigation, 600 images and 350 videos of child pornography were found on Duncan’s phone and commuter. Duncan was a security guard at Valley Center High School for 11 years but the investigation shows the acts happened after his time working for the district. 928

TUCSON, Ariz. — A team of researchers at the University of Arizona believe they've found an important clue in the fight against an aggressive form of brain cancer.Glioblastoma is the cancer that killed Sen. John McCain in August and Sen. Ted Kennedy in 2009.People are diagnosed with glioblastoma live, on average, for another 11 to 15 months. Very few survive the disease, so the group of researchers wanted to know why some patients live longer than others.Professor of Radiation Oncology, Dr. Baldassarre Stea, says the clue lies in the RNA of short and long-term patients.The team looked at the genetic variation in about three dozen patients.What they found is a gene called WIF1 is distinctly higher in patients who survive longer, according to Dr. Stea. (KGTV) — At a high school football game in Valley Center, emotions spilled off the field at halftime, as a head coach got into an altercation with the grandfather of player.Last week, under the Friday night lights at Valley Center High, the visiting squad from Imperial High made a big play in the second quarter."The other team ran past us for 50 yards. The student just didn't get the tackle, so they got the touchdown," said cheerleader Isela Zepeda.Zepeda says it was clear an assistant coach wasn't happy with the player."I heard that the assistant coach grabbed him, pushed him to the bench and started yelling at him," said Zepeda.Fast forward to halftime near the snack bar, as senior Jennifer Perez was coming out of the bathroom."Heard a lot of yelling. Saw a big crowd," said Zepeda. Witnesess say the grandfather of that player involved in the touchdown confronted the assistant coach. "He started choking him out," said Zepeda.Nearby was longtime head coach Rob Gilster."Heard he punched him to get him off. Then I heard he didn't punch him. Bunch of different stories," said senior Yesenia Zepeda, whose brother witnessed part of the fight.Deputies say bystanders broke up the fight. Sources tell 10News the grandfather suffered broken bones in his eye socket.
