ODESSA, Fla. — A couple from Florida that specializes in Christmas art worried many children wouldn't get to visit Santa this year, so they got creative to keep the tradition alive.Larry Hersberger always had a love for the man who makes a list and checks it twice."Christmas has always been special to me since I was a boy. I was raised in the prairies," said Hersberger.Hersberger's wife, Ela Bednarek, always adored a beautifully decorated Evergreen."I grew up in Poland, and in Poland, Christmas is the biggest holiday there is," said Bednarek.Together they are creating an empire of Christmas themed oil paintings."And it all stemmed to my own inner child and how he pictured Santa," said Hersberger. The big guy at the North Pole started to take notice."Next thing you know, I'm being friended by hundreds of Santas on Facebook," said Hersberger. "I realized that all of them had my work somewhere in their homes."When the pandemic began to threaten Santa's busy season, the couple started to worry."Because they make their entire year's income in the last three months of the year, and gone," said Hersberger. Then they started thinking about the kids."We have a 5-year-old and I was like, 'wait a minute, I can't take Juliet to see Santa this year,'" said Bednarek. "I said 'Larry, you're the Santa guy, you got to save Christmas.'"So with the help of their bearded friends, the couple put together a network of 100 professional Santas from five different countries and called it How To Save Christmas. How To Save Christmas "Macy's Santa, Disney's Santa, Mall of America Santa, these are the whos who of Santas," said Hersberger.Families around the world can schedule a Zoom call with the Jolly Old St. Nick of their choice. Every Santa is unique, and every call is different. There are no green screens and disappearing heads. According to Hersberger, every Santa is in a real live set. At the end of the call, the child's photo will be dropped right next to him, like they were actually there in the workshop."We are on a mission to bring joy and hope to those families around the world, not only the children but families," said Bednarek. How To Save Christmas will also be offering 500 free Zoom calls to children in hospitals. They are looking for sponsors to help provide even more.Click here for pricing information and to make your own Zoom call with Santa. This article was written by Robert Boyd for WFTS. 2474

Boeing's bestselling passenger jet is facing increased scrutiny after being involved in two deadly crashes in less than five months, a situation that threatens to tarnish the US plane maker's reputation for safety.Chinese aviation authorities on Monday told airlines in the country to ground all their Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, citing the need for "strict control of safety risks." Some individual airlines are taking similar action elsewhere. And Boeing has postponed the debut of its new 777X jetliner, which was scheduled for this week, as it deals with the fallout from Sunday's disaster in Ethiopia. The flurry of negative headlines unsettled investors. Boeing shares dropped nearly 9% in premarket trading early Monday in New York. All 157 people on board a 737 MAX 8 operated by Ethiopian Airlines were killed when the plane crashed shortly after takeoff on Sunday morning. In late October, a 737 MAX 8 flown by Lion Air went down off the coast of Indonesia, killing 189 people. Both the Ethiopian Airlines and Lion Air planes were brand-new aircraft. And both crashed minutes into flight.Ethiopian Airlines said Monday that it was grounding its fleet of 737 MAX planes as an "extra safety precaution," and Cayman Airways, the main carrier of the Cayman Islands, said it would do the same until "more information is received."The circumstances of the two crashes remain under investigation, and Boeing has presented no evidence to suggest the two disasters are linked. The similarities may be a coincidence."A formal investigation will need to be conducted into this new crash. It's important not to speculate as to its causes. A final, conclusive report has yet to be issued in the case of the Lion [Air] crash," said Greg Waldron, Asia managing editor at aviation research firm FlightGlobal."That said, having two crashes of a brand new type in a short time is an unprecedented state of events," he added. "It is inevitable that this will affect perceptions about the 737 MAX family."The decision by Chinese authorities to ground 737 MAX 8 planes in the country is a serious blow."A suspension in China is very significant, as this is a major market for Boeing," Waldron said. Chinese airlines have 97 of the 737 MAX aircraft in service, more than a quarter of the total in operation worldwide, according to FlightGlobal.Boeing's bestsellerThe single-aisle Boeing 737 has been a workhorse on short- and medium-haul flights for decades. The 737 MAX is the latest version — and the company's bestselling aircraft by far. Airlines have ordered thousands of them. The two-year-old 737 MAX 8 model in particular is hugely popular (the MAX 9 only recently went on sale and Boeing has not yet delivered the MAX 10). Last year, 72% of Boeing's deliveries were 737 planes. Boeing plans to make 59 new 737s each month this year — more than four times the number of 787s, Boeing's next-best seller.Southwest Airlines has the largest fleet of 737 MAX 8 airplanes, followed by RyanAir and FlyDubai, according to 3018

For the last 30 years, Marina Tsaplina has taken insulin to survive. “I take anywhere between probably six to 10 injections per day, depending on what I need,” she says. “Certainly any time before I eat and any time I need to adjust my blood sugar.” Living with type 1 diabetes and no health insurance, Tsaplina bought a year’s supply of insulin in Canada, because she can't afford to buy it here in the U.S. “The insulin alone would be about from 0 to ,100,” she says. New research shows drug prices can vary greatly depending on the pharmacy. The U.S. Public Interest Research Group (PIRG) Education Fund surveyed more than 250 pharmacies in 11 states on prices for 12 common drugs. It found consumers could save anywhere from 0 to ,000 a year, simply by shopping around. “On average, over nine times the lowest price could be charged for a prescription drug that many people take,” says Lance Kilpatrick with U.S. PIRG. The study found chain pharmacies like CVS tend to have higher prices than mom-and-pop pharmacies. “Eight of the 12 drugs that we surveyed, mom-and-pop shops and small chain pharmacies actually had less expensive prices than the big chains,” Kilpatrick says. That's why U.S. PIRG says you should compare at least five pharmacies and try shopping online. Sites like Goodrx.com helps consumers find the best prices in your area. Pharmacychecker.com connects with verified Canadian pharmacies, since Canadian drugs are often cheaper. Additionally, Blinkhealth.com offers good pricing for generic drugs. With 1 in 4 Americans struggling to afford their prescription drugs, a little legwork now can save you a lot of money in the long run. 1677

More veterans are getting hired but many are still likely to be underemployed, according to new data from LinkedIn. An underemployed worker is defined as someone whose skill set is not being used at their job. Experts say what often happens is veterans will start receiving letters or emails saying a job has been filled. So veterans will likely turn to other positions where they can get hired but may not use their skills. “We believe that employers have kind of unintentionally created programs that have really created the path of least resistance for the veteran community, so it’s pipelined them into particular industries or certain roles, which has sort of limited the aperture of what's available and what's possible,” says Sara Roberts, the head of military and veteran programs at LinkedIn. Experts at LinkedIn say it's important for veterans to research the industry when they begin to look at civilian jobs to understand the type of jobs that are out there. And to network, especially with other veteran groups. “What veterans can do is be thoughtful and intentional about diversifying their network with industry leaders, as they plan for what's next, and the different types of opportunities that they're excited about, especially as they make their transition,” Robert says. Some cities have stronger veteran networks than others. You can also look online for organizations that can help, like the 1426
