PEORIA, AZ - An Amber Alert for a 2-year-old girl abducted from Peoria Monday morning has been canceled after the girl was found safe several hours later. According to Peoria police, Khaleesi Morales was taken by her non-custodial father, 32-year-old Luis Jesus Morales, around 6 a.m. from a residence near Lake Pleasant and Beardsley roads.Luis is the defendant on an Order or Protection not to have contact with the girl or her mother. According to officials, Luis was arrested and booked into jail by Peoria police Sunday night after violating that Order of Protection, but was released at 5:14 a.m. on Monday.Police said Luis went to the child's Peoria home Monday morning, opened a window, broke the screen out, stepped on his young son's hand and assaulted the mother before taking Khaleesi. He reportedly stole the mother's vehicle and headed southbound on Lake Pleasant Road. Police say there were several box knives in the stolen vehicle. An Amber Alert was issued around 8 a.m. Monday for Khaleesi.Around 1 p.m., police said the Peoria SWAT team was able to locate the girl and Luis at a business near 99th Avenue and Beardsley Road, just a short distance from where the toddler was abducted. Khaleesi was "safe and unharmed" and was asking for her mother. Luis was taken into custody without incident.Khaleesi was reunited with her mother at the Peoria Police Department Monday afternoon. Luis is being charged with kidnapping, burglary, aggravated assault, violation of a court order and auto theft. (KGTV) -- A family dog missing after a deadly crash in Pauma Valley Friday was reunited with its family after being located by firefighters Sunday.Cal fire said firefighters and the San Diego County Department of Animal Services returned to the scene after the crash in an effort to locate the dog.“After lots of hiking through thick brush, the mission was a success and the family was reunited with their pet,” Cal Fire said.“We're with our community members on some of their worst days...and we'll always be there, doing everything we can help make things better,” the agency continued.The crash happened early Friday morning, killing a mother and injuring her 11-year-old son and his father.Crews responded to the scene of the crash after the vehicle was found overturned on an embankment near State Route 76 between Palomar Mountain and Oceanside.The man and child are expected to recover. 914

PANMUNJOM, Korea (AP) — With wide grins and a historic handshake, President Donald Trump and North Korea's Kim Jong Un met at the heavily fortified Demilitarized Zone on Sunday and agreed to revive talks on the pariah nation's nuclear program. Trump, pressing his bid for a legacy-defining deal, became the first sitting American leader to step into North Korea.What was intended to be an impromptu exchange of pleasantries turned into a 50-minute meeting, another historic first in the yearlong rapprochement between the two technically warring nations. It marked a return to face-to-face contact between the leaders after talks broke down during a summit in Vietnam in February. Significant doubts remain, though, about the future of the negotiations and the North's willingness to give up its stockpile of nuclear weapons .The border encounter was a made-for television moment. The men strode toward one another from opposite sides of the Joint Security Area and shook hands over the raised patch of concrete at the Military Demarcation Line as cameras clicked and photographers jostled to capture the scene.After asking if Kim wanted him to cross, Trump took 10 steps into the North with Kim at his side, then escorted Kim back to the South for talks at Freedom House, where they agreed to revive the stalled negotiations.The spectacle marked the latest milestone in two years of roller-coaster diplomacy between the two nations.
