SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A woman died and her son was hospitalized after a shooting at a Linda Vista home early Monday morning.According to San Diego police, officers were called to the 2200 block of Crandall Drive at around 3:15 a.m. in response to a report of gunfire in a home.Officers arrived to find a male and female down with gunshot wounds to their upper bodies.The victims were taken to the hospital, but the woman -- identified by police as a 46-year-old Vietnamese female -- died from her injuries.The injured man -- described by police as a 28-year-old Vietnamese male -- is on life support, but police noted that he is not expected to survive his injuries.Police said they were not actively searching for a suspect, as they believe one of the victims was the shooter. 783

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- An 87-year-old man was beaten during a home invasion in Clairemont Wednesday afternoon. According to San Diego Police, the incident happened on the 4600 block of Firestone Street at 3:02 p.m. Police say three men forced their way into the 87-year-old man’s home before beating and robbing him. "All of a sudden three guys come plowing through my front door, said 'this is a robbery.' I said, 'Come on ... I got nothing here for you.' Which didn’t dissuade them," said Paul Schmidt. Schmidt told 10News he was working on a ceiling fan with the door open when the men broke in. “I had scissors laying there, he grabbed the scissors and he threatened me with it. He said, 'There’s three of us and one of you, and we’re robbing you.' And what could I do, maybe one or two guys I can handle, but three ..." Schmidt added. Schmidt says he fought back, grabbing one of the robber's beards before one of the men held scissors to his throat. "The guy with the beard, he was the meanest, he seemed to be the lead, but he was higher than a kite," Schmidt said. The robbers were able to get away with Schmidt's wallet as well as his red pickup truck and some smaller items. Police arrested two suspects in the attack on July 25. Both suspects have, as of Monday, been charged with robbery, elder abuse and auto theft.The suspects were identified as John Slobig, 59 and Terry Jones, 53. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A water main break in Mira Mesa flooded a music and art studio, filling up rooms full of musical instruments and equipment.The sound of gushing water early Saturday night led to a flood of emotions for musician Anastasya Korol."There is a river rushing in the back ... Shocked and really sad as it started to sink in," said Korol.That night, city officials say water from a break in a 55-year-old, 36-inch steel pipe, flowed into the back of a building in the Via Excelencia Business Park. One of the businesses flooded was the San Diego Music and Art Cooperative, a music and art studio for independent artists. It's used for rehearsal space and classes.Korol says among the seven pianos damaged was the piano she played as a child. "It's upsetting to lose it ... The water goes up through the wood, warps the wood and sound board," said Korol.Also waterlogged: dozens of other instruments, from guitars to violins, along with a long list of sound equipment, artwork and art supplies. Studio founder Mathew Rakers says the total loss is hundreds of thousands of dollars."It's crazy to put years and years of work into something and see it wash away in a matter of hours," said Rakers.Rakers plans to file a claim with the city. Attorney Evan Walker, an expert in flood cases, says such cases could take anywhere from six months to two years to wrap up."You're dealing with a bureaucracy, and when you're dealing with litigation, things tend to get complicated," said Rakers.He says filing with your insurance - if you do have flood insurance - is usually speedier. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A toddler found near Lincoln High School Thursday afternoon has been reunited with his parents.According to a witness, the child was found wandering around near the corner of Franklin Avenue and Gloria Street.The witness, who had just dropped her granddaughter off at cheer practice, said the toddler wasn’t crying, but simply standing on the street alone.The woman approached the child and asked if he was lost before the toddler smiled back at her. She then asked where he lived.After the child pointed down the street, the woman took his hand and called out loudly asking if anyone lost a child.After no one came forward, the woman took the young child to a nearby fire station where a fire crew was able to call police.Police were able to bring the child safely to a police station where they took care of him until he was brought home. 868

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A woman suffered serious injuries from a hit-and-run crash Saturday while walking in the East Village, San Diego Police said.The 47-year-old woman was dragging her wheelchair across F St. at Park Blvd. at 3:55 a.m. when she was struck by a gray or silver Honda heading west.The car was last seen going north on 11th Ave., police said.The victim suffered two broken legs and a pelvic fracture.San Diego Police Traffic Division officers are investigating the case. 494
