A Reddit user has created an iPhone shortcut designed to record interactions with law enforcement.The program, called "I'm Getting Pulled Over," automatically turns on an iPhone's camera when the user tells Siri they're being pulled over.Robert Peterson first created the shortcut in 2018, and has since updated the program to include new features. A new art installation in Washington, D.C. is aiming to put the COVID-19 pandemic in a new perspective.WTOP-TV in Washington reports that on Friday, artist Suzanne Brennan Firstenberg was joined by the friends and family of coronavirus victims to set up her newest installation, "In America: How Could This Happen…"The installation, located on the D.C. Armory field near RFK Stadium, features more than 200,000 white flags — each one representing an America who has been killed by COVID-19.Community members are invited to continue planting the flags through Friday, Nov. 6. By the project's conclusion, Firstenberg hopes to plant more than 240,000 flags. She also invites volunteers to write the names of loved ones who have been killed by the disease on the flags."This is public participatory art," Firstenberg told NPR. "I want the community to come plant flags right alongside me. I want them to realize the importance of individual lives."According to NPR, Firstenberg has been searching for a place to display her project since August. A public school administrator in Nashville has resigned following the disclosure of a secret recording where he plotted to bypass filters designed to protect children from exposure to lead in their water.Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) executive director of facilities Dennis Neal, resigned Friday, according to MNPS communications director Olivia Brown. Neal had been placed on administrative leave while the district investigated.Neal's resignation came less than a week after Scripps station WTVF in Nashville?uncovered the recording from inside a meeting of schools maintenance employees.Recording Reveals Plan To 'Bypass' Lead FilterFor the past nine months, WVTF has exposed data kept secret by the district showing high lead levels in some Metro schools. Lead is a toxic metal that can cause learning and behavioral problems in children.In response, a number of schools installed special fountains that were supposed to filter out the lead. A trainer in Florida is back home with his family after hiking the Appalachian Trail to raise awareness for Parkinson’s disease.“I’ve finally done it,” said Ryan Beck, in his final video.It took Beck 160 days, 2,193 miles and 14 states.“It was definitely an adventure,” he said.Raising awareness for Parkinson’s disease has been a life goal for Beck.He trains people diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in his Rock Steady boxing class. One of his clients is his grandfather.“These people need to get moving. One of the first things they do is sit back and they are not exercising, they are not pushing themselves, and this kind of program really encourages that,” said Beck.Beck helps train up to 100 people living with Parkinson’s disease each week.“My granddad was my second client and my longest-running client now,” said Beck.Beck had spent most of his adult life in a completely different profession but says it was his grandfather Bill who inspired him to start helping others.“He got this diagnosis when I was 8 years old so I grew up with it. I didn’t really know how hard he was struggling, I mean it’s just my granddad right? It just made me respect my idol, my hero, that much more,” said Ryan Beck.“I didn’t expect him to do all this. I didn’t expect him to jump in and get so involved. It’s just exciting to watch other people get the same results,” said Bill Beck.Beck’s hike was supposed to involve others dealing with the disease. They had to cancel due to COVID-19 concerns.“I was forced to keep my head down and continue my journey and spread the word about how fitness can really benefit people with the disease,” he said.The pandemic made the hike difficult and lonely. But for Ryan, “quitting was never an option even one the hard days when I didn’t think I could go on.”Seeing his family at the end made it all worth it for him.
