The University of Cincinnati's Board of Trustees voted Tuesday morning to remove Marge Schott's name from the university's baseball stadium and another space in the school's archive library immediately."Marge Schott’s record of racism and bigotry stands at stark odds with our University’s core commitment to dignity, equity, and inclusion," UC president Neville Pinto said. "I hope this action serves as an enduring reminder that we cannot remain silent or indifferent when it comes to prejudice, hate, or inequity. "You don't have to be a big name to make a change and that's huge."UC pitcher Nathan Moore was instrumental in helping Ramey with the petition. "It's a great feeling just to know the Cincinnati community, the school, our board wants to move everything in the right direction. And I think everybody is on the same page with that. That all it did was coming together, unity, and somebody asking for change."Ramey said Tuesday's vote wasn't a celebration per se, but it has brought awareness quickly and is an indicator of the direction of the country."As an athlete for me personally as an athlete going through UC it was conflicting to play under that name," Ramey said. "It was. I'm going to put my all out and my teammates are going to put their all-out - we're brothers - but at the end of the day that's a conflicting situation to be put in as a black athlete at the university. I don't want that to happen for anybody else coming into the next generation."The Marge and Charles Schott Foundation previously made a statement about the petition."We can ask you to learn from Mrs. Schott's mistakes as well as her great love for Cincinnati," a statement from the Schott Foundation reads. "We fully support the decisions made by the organizations that have received grants from the Foundation."St. Ursula Academy decided previously to remove Schott's name from two of their campus facilities: a stadium and a school building.There was no immediate word from UC when the exterior letters of the stadium name will be removed. The Trump Administration wants to change the definition of a showerhead to let more water flow, addressing a pet peeve of the president who complains he isn’t getting wet enough.Publicly talking about the need to keep his hair “perfect,” President Donald Trump has made increasing water flow and dialing back long held appliance conservation standards — from light bulbs to toilets to dishwashers — a personal issue.But consumer and conservation groups said the Department of Energy’s proposed loosening of a 28-year-old energy law that includes appliance standards is silly, unnecessary and wasteful, especially as the West bakes through a historic two-decade-long megadrought.Since 1992, federal law has dictated that new showerheads shouldn’t pour more than 2.5 gallons of water per minute (9.5 liters). As newer shower fixtures came out with multiple nozzles, the Obama administration defined the showerhead restrictions to apply to what comes out in total. So if there are four nozzles, no more than 2.5 gallons total should come out between all four.The new proposal Wednesday would allow each nozzle to spray as much as 2.5 gallons, not just the overall showerhead.With four or five or more nozzles, “you could have 10, 15 gallons per minute powering out of the showerhead, literally probably washing you out of the bathroom,” said Andrew deLaski, executive director of the energy conservation group Appliance Standards Awareness Project.On the White House South Lawn in July, Trump made the issue personal:“So showerheads — you take a shower, the water doesn’t come out. You want to wash your hands, the water doesn’t come out. So what do you do? You just stand there longer or you take a shower longer? We’ve got a pandemic, serious long-term drought throughout much of the West. We’ve got global climate change. The Weinstein Company, the studio co-founded by disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, has filed for bankruptcy and torn up legal contracts that kept sexual harassment victims from speaking out.The company said late Monday that it will release victims of, and witnesses to, Weinstein's alleged misconduct from any non-disclosure agreements."Effective immediately, those 'agreements' end," the company said in a statement.
