(KGTV) - A woman was found unconscious and bloody outside a Chula Vista laundromat Friday night.Paramedics responded to reports of an unconscious woman at the Coin-Op laundromat near Broadway and F Street just after 9 p.m.The woman had apparently been beaten and left on the sidewalk on the side of the strip mall.Ivonne Campos, who works at a nearby Mexican restaurant said her bosses saw the woman as they were leaving for the night.Campos came over to help the woman, who she believes is homeless. CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) -- A suspect was arrested in the shooting death of a 24-year-old man in Chula Vista, police announced Tuesday.On May 15, Chula Vista police were called to the 200 block of G Street in response to reports of gunfire in the area. Upon officers’ arrival, Fredrick Wood was found on the ground with gunshot wounds.Wood was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.Through their investigation, police learned Wood was “shot inside a nearby residence belonging to Enrique Delgado. The victim then ran into the street after being shot, where he collapsed.”Police said Delgado was nowhere to be found.According to police, investigators tracked down Delgado on June 11 at a motorhome in San Diego. Police said Delgado “admitted to shooting Mr. Wood during a dispute, refused to surrender and stated he was armed with a firearm.”A SWAT team was called to the scene as Delgado barricaded himself in the motorhome. He eventually surrendered without incident.Police reported “several firearms and a large quantity of narcotics were also located inside Delgado’s motorhome at the time of arrest.”Delgado was booked into jail and faces charges of murder, possession of narcotics for sale, convicted felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, illegal possession of an assault weapon, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a controlled substance while armed with a loaded firearm and having a concealed weapon in a vehicle. 1468

(KGTV) - Chula Vista Police are asking the public for help solving three hit-and-run cases that have remained unsolved since January of last year — two of which resulted in deaths.The first occurred on Jan. 22, 2017, at about 6:45 p.m. at the intersection of Broadway and G Street. Police said 43-year-old Rafael Cruz Fermin was hit by a vehicle traveling southbound on Broadway. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene in what was described as a red, 2002-2005 Ford Explorer or Mercury Mountaineer.Fermin died at the scene, despite being given first aid. Read more.The second incident was on Sept. 14, 2017, at about 7:30 p.m. in the 700 block of E Street. A driver struck a 52-year-old man between the McDonald's and Motel 6, before fleeing the area. The victim was left with severe internal injuries, of which police say he still suffers from.The driver, described as a possibly older, white man with short white or blonde hair, was last seen in a gold, older model Pontiac, Lincoln, or Buick. The vehicle has a partial plate of "5BK." Chopped romaine lettuce grown in the Yuma, Arizona, area is to blame for a multistate E. coli outbreak, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday."At this time, no common grower, supplier, distributor, or brand has been identified," the CDC said.So far 35 cases of E. coli illness in 11 states have been reported and linked to the outbreak. The earliest symptoms began on March 22. Twenty-two of the ill individuals have been hospitalized. Three of those patients developed a type of kidney failure associated with an E. coli illness called hemolytic uremic syndrome, which can be life-threatening.Symptoms of E. coli typically begin two to eight days after consuming the bacteria, although most patients become ill three or four days after consumption. Symptoms include severe stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomiting. Most people recover in five to seven days. Those most at risk for E. coli illness include the very young, the very old and individuals with compromised immune systems.Health officials warned the public to stay away from chopped romaine lettuce. "Consumers anywhere in the United States who have store-bought chopped romaine lettuce at home, including salads and salad mixes containing chopped romaine lettuce, should not eat it and should throw it away, even if some of it was eaten and no one has gotten sick. If you do not know if the lettuce is romaine, do not eat it and throw it away," the CDC said.Restaurants and stores are advised not to serve or sell chopped romaine lettuce.In addition, the agency recommends asking grocery stores and restaurants to confirm their chopped romaine is not from Yuma.The advice is based on interviews with 28 of the ill individuals in which 93% of them reported consuming romaine lettuce within the week they began feeling sick."Most people reported eating a salad at a restaurant, and romaine lettuce was the only common ingredient identified among the salads eaten. CHULA VISTA (CNS) - UTC Aerospace Systems plans to wind down manufacturing at its Chula Vista aircraft plant beginning early next year, eliminating around 300 jobs, it was reported Friday.The company -- a division of Farmington, Connecticut-based conglomerate United Technologies -- said the decision stems from ending production of certain commercial aircraft models, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.The Chula Vista plant builds aerodynamic engine pods and mounts for customers such as Boeing and Airbus.UTC Aerospace plans to keep an after-market spare parts distribution, engineering test labs and administrative jobs in Chula Vista, according to the Union-Tribune."We remain committed to being in Chula Vista," Stacey MacNeil, vice president of communications for UTC Aerospace told the newspaper. "There will still be 1,500 jobs there. We are not shutting down the entire location."The closure of manufacturing, however, will end production of aircraft components at the plant, which has been building planes and supplying aircraft sub-systems since Fred Rohr founded Rohr Aircraft Co. in 1940, according to the Union-Tribune."We recognize the impact this decision will have on our employees and their families, and will not begin the wind-down until 2019," the company said in a statement.
