FREDERICK, Md. – A Maryland man is facing federal charges after allegedly threatening the lives of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and his running mate Kamala Harris.A federal criminal complaint filed Thursday charges 42-year-old James Dale Reed of Frederick with threatening a major candidate for president or vice president.An affidavit filed in support of the complaint says a letter threatening the former vice president and current U.S. senator was left on the doorstep of a Frederick resident in the early morning hours on Oct. 4.The handwritten letter included the follow passage: (Warning: It is graphic and disturbing) 645

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling more than 180,000 Ram pickup trucks because of a potentially dangerous problem with their gear shifters.The recall includes 1500, 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500 pickup trucks from the 2017-2018 model years.The agency says the fault “may increase the risk of an unintended vehicle rollaway” that could result in a crash or injury, according to consumer reports.A Fiat Chrysler Automobiles investigation discovered the Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) may overheat on certain vehicles equipped with steering column gear-shifters. FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Heading to the airport? Pack your worries.  Every day, billions of germs are left all over Southwest Florida International Airport.Biology professor Cliff Renk from Florida Gulf Coast University and student Matt Glass joined us as we took a microscopic look at all the germs we encounter when we fly into and out of the airport. The professor swabbed all sorts of surfaces and using a monitor that counts the number of germs. A reading of 300 on the meter indicates a normal amount of bacteria.One elevator button registered 418. The handles on those luggage carts: a nasty 532.  Escalator handles were about the same but loaded with bacteria colonies. The buttons on the ATM machine in the main concourse were home to almost 80 different colonies of bacteria. But that's just the beginning. If you're flying, everyone needs to go through the security checkpoint.  And the bin you place your phone in -- which you hold to your face -- might be the same one the person before it put his shoes in following a visit to the bathroom. They could carry staph, which can cause pimples, boils and in some cases flesh-eating bacteria. There are about 1000-1500 TSA plastic bins that we place our stuff in when we go through security. We tested the first bin and its handles; it came in came below the normal level. The second tested at more than two times higher.  The third, well that's a different story. Even though the number was 611, Professor Renk says some stomach-churning germ colonies  - more than 300 - were lurking on board, including fecal bacteria and other bacteria generally found on the bottom of shoes. Reps from both the airport and the TSA tell us it's important we remember any public space is a breeding ground for germs and to bring and use hand sanitizer or wipes at all times.  Finally, they say to wash your hands frequently. And speaking of hands we did one last test on reporter Frank Cipolla's hands to show you what any one of us might be lugging around at any moment. He spent all morning at the airport and shook about a dozen hands. Remember, 300 is a normal reading. His right hand registered about 3000.The TSA says it would cost too much money to put hand sanitizer dispensers in every airport in America, so a warning to all travelers. Four people were killed and four others were wounded when a gunman opened fire in a Waffle House in Antioch, Tennessee.The mass shooting happened around 3:25 a.m. Sunday at 3571 Murfreesboro Pike near Hobson Pike.Metro Nashville Police Department officials named 29-year-old Travis Reinking, from Illinois, as a person of interest in the shooting, saying the vehicle the gunman used was registered to him. 423

Fewer women are scheduling mammograms due to COVID-19 fears, according to a local doctor.At TriStar Summit Medical Center, Dr. Rhonda Halcomb with Centennial Women’s group, said they’re being careful.“From the time that you check in here, patients are pre-screened and screened, we provide masks and hand sanitizer here in the building, and here in the office," said Halcomb.Even though we’re in the middle of a pandemic, she said routine mammograms are still important.“Breast cancer, in general, is the number one cancer in women.”She’s sad that fewer people are showing up, or postponing their routine checks.“It breaks my heart in general that people are scared to take care of themselves,” Dr. Halcomb said.First hand, she has seen how mammograms can save lives.“Breast cancer to me has affected several of my family members. I had early breast cancer detected by screening.”Dr. Halcomb said death rates have decreased since the 1970s due to more people getting diagnosed with breast cancer - early.“Mammograms detect breast cancer before someone can feel a breast cancer before the doctor can feel the breast cancer in the breast,” Dr. Halcomb said, “Mammograms are just as important as they’ve ever been.”Actress Kelly Preston just died from breast cancer at 57-years-old.
