Experts predict over billion worth of campaign political ads will be produced in 2020. So, what are the campaigns doing to influence your vote? THE EXPERTS To find out the tactics used by campaigns, we reached out to Sara Cutter, a Republican ad maker, and Julian Mulvey, a Democratic ad maker. SECRET #1: FONTPay attention to font. Mulvey says Democrats will use a lot of red lettering in commercials against President Donald Trump. That's because it instills some fear and catches your eye. "It's what I call a black, white and red ad. Which you see a lot in negative adverting. Those are sort of the primal colors and the first color you ever see in your life is red," Mulvey said. Mulvey pointed to an ad by the Lincoln Project as an example of red lettering. SECRET #2: VOICEPay attention to the voice. Sometimes, Cutter says, ad makers will use a female voice when they are worried a claim may be too over-the-top. "There can be more fear in a females voice without it seeming to be too much. There can also be more urgency in a female's voice," Cutter said. SECRET #3: JOURNALISTS Pay attention to journalists appearing in a campaign commercial. While journalists hate appearing in ads, Mulvey says they can't sue to get their face out of them. It's also become more popular in recent years as they test well in focus groups. "Local anchors are trusted individuals," Mulvey said, defending the tactic. SECRET #4: DISTORTED PHOTOSSometimes photos of candidates are altered. (KGTV) - A new technology is being hailed as a "game changer" by some experts as it takes aims at those achy, tiresome commutes.  Cadillac's Super Cruise, the only hands-free semi-autonomous driving feature on the highways, is now on roads in Southern California.Once on the highway, the feature is activated with the push of a button on the steering wheel.  The feature allows the driver to go feet- and hands-free as long as you stay in one lane. "If someone slows down in front of me, it will slow down our speed," said Drew Doran.While other driver-assistance systems use cameras to center a car, Doran says General Motors has extensive laser mapping of US highways that leads to better accuracy."It actually knows what is ahead of the vehicle," said Doran.  On a one-hour-long drive, it tracked every curve and every time, it stayed in the center of the lane. The driver is still expected to be on standby.  A camera on the steering wheel watches for distractions.  If the driver is doing something like reading and blocking that camera, it will warn the driver.When we blocked the camera, a green light flashed - the first of several alerts - before Super Cruise disengaged.  Doran says he recently went on a trip to Los Angeles with his wife.  He says he used Super Cruise for about 80 percent of a drive that left him feeling relaxed.    "Not the usual back pain. (KGTV) - A woman was injured following a high-speed pursuit that ended with a rollover crash in Escondido Friday.A California Highway Patrol officer taking part in a saturation patrol for the Labor Day weekend saw the woman speeding on north Interstate 15 and Mission Road about noon, the CHP said.The woman exited and got back on the freeway in a stolen Toyota Corolla, heading south at speeds up to 100 miles an hour, said officers.Eventually, the woman crashed as she tried to to take the westbound SR-78 ramp. The car rolled over on the freeway embankment.CHP officers said the woman, who is in her 40s, was not wearing a seat belt. She was not thrown from the car.Paramedics found the woman unconscious and took her to the hospital.Alcohol and drugs were factors in the crash, officers said. 822

(KGTV) - Neighbors in Encinitas are warning people about the dangers of the Sago Palm after two dogs on the same street passed away from sago poisoning.Ronnie Steinau says her dog, Luna, died within 24 hours of eating some seeds from a Sago Palm."She was the happiest, tail wagging, loved everyone and 'she's the kind of dog that everyone loved because she was so sweet," Steinau says. "We had her for about a year. We miss her."After posting about Luna on social media groups, Steinau learned a neighbor had a similar experience."We had no idea there was something so deadly all around us," says Alissa Dalaut.Dalaut says her dog Saber ate some sago palm seeds in December and died a few days afterward, despite aggressive treatment from her vet."We felt horrible, and we wished we would have known how toxic and how fatal and how dangerous these plants are," says Dalaut.According to PetMD.com, the sago palm contains a toxin called Cycasin. It can cause severe liver damage. Other symptoms of sago poisoning include:VomitingBlood in fecesBloody diarrheaIcterus (yellow coloration of skin and gums)Increased thirstIncreased urineBruisingBleeding easily (coagulopathy, DIC)Neurological signs such as depression, circling, paralysis, seizures, comaDeathThe toxin is found in the sago roots, seeds and leaves. Veterinarians say you should seek medical attention immediately if you suspect your pet has eaten it. Children can also get sick from eating it.Dalaut had 12 sago palms in her house. She has since had them all removed. Steinau also had a sago palm removed from her backyard and has plans to cut down another on her porch.Now the two women are warning others of the dangers in their neighborhood."If you have them in your yard and you have children or pets, you're asking for trouble," says Steinau.Steinau would also like nurseries to do a better job of telling people about the dangers associated with sago palms and other trees when they're sold.
