SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A judge is considering placement locations for a sexually violent predator convicted of sexual offenses against children between the ages of 4 and 9.Judge Howard Shore issued a written decision Tuesday that a proposed address on the 15000 block of Adams Drive in Pauma Valley was not suitable for the placement of Joseph Bocklett.A news release from the District Attorney said Judge Shore is considering other potential housing options.Bocklett was convicted of three sexual offenses over a 19-year period involving children between the ages of 4 and 9.He was sentenced in 2000 to a 17-year prison term before being committed to Coalinga State Hospital for treatment.Last year, Bocklett petitioned for the Conditional Release Program for sex offenders. He was granted conditional release to a supervised home. "I can certainly empathize with the feeling that people do not want someone like Mr. Bocklett in their community,'' Shore said during last Friday's hearing. ``I would be shocked if anyone wrote a letter saying, `We can't wait to have him living in our community.' SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man died early Saturday morning after he and another man held a punching game, police say.The incident happened on Fourth Avenue and J Street at Jolt’n Joe’s just before 1 a.m. Police say both men were drinking when they decided to have a punching contest.During the game, one of the men collapsed. Staff at the bar performed CPR on the 27-year-old who was taken to the hospital where he later died.The suspect in the death was taken also taken to the hospital after complaining of chest pain.Police haven’t officially made any arrests. 576

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A life-changing medical diagnosis forced a San Diego sailor to leave the military and start over. While devastating, he's now pursuing another career with help from his new best friend. "When I left the ship and went to MCRD I started getting really sick and thought it was the flu," said Hugo Reynoso.Instead, Reynoso was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and was medically retired from the Navy. "It's kind of scary having a steady paycheck and then going to have to look for something else," said Reynoso.On several occasions, dangerously high blood sugar levels sent Reynoso to the hospital. A friend suggested he get a diabetic alert dog. "He has enough personality for the both of us! He's a special character," said Reynoso, referring to his service dog Sky.Sky can detect when Reynoso's blood sugar levels are too high or low, alerting him by tugging his shirt or howling. In one instance, Sky detected extremely low levels when Reynoso was sleeping, alerting him to get up. Sky was by Reynoso's side as he pursued a new career in the automotive field. Reynoso was commuting two hours to Universal Technical Institute (UTI) in Rancho Cucamonga for a fast-track program. "I was commuting 167 miles, one way, I would have to wake up around 2:30 a.m., start my drive at 3," said Reynoso.Reynoso did this five times a week, running on just a few hours of sleep. Sky was there to ensure his blood sugar levels were steady. "Everyone told me when we were getting ready to graduate that they were going to miss me, but mostly they were going to miss him because he was their support too."While Reynoso's diagnosis took away his old dreams, he now has a partner to help achieve new ones. 1711

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man was arrested after deputies say he intentionally drove onto a sidewalk outside an Encinitas bar, seriously injuring several people. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened on the 500 block of South Coast Highway 101 around 1:20 a.m. Deputies say the man, later identified as Christian Davis, 28, was asked to leave The Saloon Bar because he was too intoxicated. RELATED: Man dies following attack in Vista; suspects at-largeAfter leaving the bar, deputies say Davis got into his rental U-Haul van and intentionally drove it onto the sidewalk, hitting three people. One of the victims was taken to Palomar Medical Center while two others were taken to Scripps La Jolla Hospital all with serious injuries. Davis was detained by witnesses at the bar before being taken into custody by deputies. Two of the witnesses were injured while detaining Davis and were taken to Scripps Encinitas hospital with minor injuries. The suspect is facing four felony charges including three of attempted first-degree murder and one of attempted escape with force. Davis is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A massive police presence was seen on the border of Clairemont and Bay Park after police received a call about a possible assault with a deadly weapon Monday. According to authorities, the incident happened on the 3300 block of Clairemont Avneue. After investigating, police say there was no assault. A child's grandmother called police saying there had been a shooting.The child's mother also showed up at the scene and told police the grandmother has a mental issue and that there had been no assault.  557
