SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Three cars were damaged during a pursuit through Cortez Hill Monday afternoon. According to police, the chase began around 3:50 p.m. at the intersection of Ninth Avenue and Beech Street. The reason for the chase was unclear. The chase ended a short distance away on the 1300 block of Park Boulevard. During the chase, the suspect struck three other vehicles, two of which were parked. Tiny houses come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are equipped with the basics for living, sleeping, and cooking. They range in size from 150 square feet to 400 square feet and cost between ,000 and 0,000.Tiny homes can help create an affordable option for low-income residents that doesn’t require a taxpayer subsidy.City officials said, “A significant portion of households in San Diego can afford a movable tiny house as an Accessory Dwelling Unit (ADU). The average cost of rent for a tiny home is 0 a month. A property owner would recover their initial investment in eight years. After that, the rent from the tiny house could help cover their mortgage and other expenses.”Currently, the city allows homeowners to build accessory dwelling units on their properties. With Tuesday’s approval, homeowners can add tiny homes to their properties.“Moveable tiny homes are a great option that naturally increases affordable housing at no cost to taxpayers. It’s a win for the homeowner, it’s a win for the renter, and it’s a win for the taxpayer,” said San Diego City Councilman Scott Sherman. “I appreciate my colleagues support for this important housing reform. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Thirteen people overcoming a unique set of obstacles plan to conquer a 13.1-mile marathon this weekend.They're called the Lucky 13."It takes a lot of courage, and you've got to be really brave, even just to apply," said Paul Carey, the Lucky 13 Coordinator, and Head Coach.The Tri-City Medical Center program assists those who have had or are currently overcoming health obstacles to achieve their fitness goals. For six months, they're professionally trained and receive wellness support ahead of the Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Half-Marathon."Everything good I have in my life can be traced back to Lucky 13 and being part of that," said Carey, who was a participant years ago.For 30 years Carey felt trapped in his bipolar diagnosis.During that time, he was on heavy medications, had several psychiatric hospital stays, and underwent 50 sessions of electroconvulsive therapy.Then he found the Lucky 13 program."It's an endless foundation of support that's just something really remarkable," said Carey. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The San Diego Association of Governments will debate Wednesday the best way to get people to the airport. Four possible plans involving public transportation are involved. One would create a central terminal on Navy property near Old Town and tunnel under the airport with a people mover. Two other proposals would involve a terminal, but use an elevated people mover. The fourth option would extend the trolley, adding tracks along Harbor Drive. Dorene Robertson said the predictability of public transportation would be a benefit. “I know the shuttle's not going to get in a car accident, I know I'm going to get here when I plan to get here, I'm not going to get stuck on the freeway and not get here. So it takes away the uncertainty of getting to the airport on time,” said Robertson. Alex Santos, who typically relies on Uber to reach the airport, says he would only use public transportation if it was direct. “If it was dropping me off in front of my house or a townhome I live in, or a block away, that'd be perfect.” The SANDAG plans would cost anywhere from .8 billion to .7 billion dollars. They would serve as many as 44,000 people per day by 2050 and decrease traffic on Harbor Drive as much as 35 percent.
