SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Tens of thousands of San Diego Gas & Electric customers in San Diego’s East County were without power Tuesday morning as strong Santa Ana winds continue to swirl in the region.As of 1 p.m., 10,982 customers were without service in communities including as Alpine, Campo, Julian, Ramona, and Valley Center. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The Camp Pendleton Marine accused of trying to smuggle migrants through the San Ysidro Port of Entry this month has been identified.Bryan Oneal Newell Jr. was arrested Dec. 2 by U.S. Customs and Border Protection personnel at the San Ysidro Port of Entry, according to Camp Pendleton. Newell is accused of trying to bring undocumented immigrants into the U.S.Newell, a junior-enlisted Marine, was being held in civilian custody while CBP and the Naval Criminal Investigative Service investigated.RELATED: Marine accused of trying to smuggle immigrants through San Ysidro Port of EntryCamp Pendleton said Newell was not part of military personnel sent to the border to assist personnel with border operations.Newell is the most recent Marine from Camp Pendleton to be charged in an immigration scandal. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - The California Attorney General’s office sent a warning to HiCaliber Horse Rescue in Valley Center, days after a Team 10 investigation into the group’s practices.The rescue is delinquent with the Registry of Charitable Trusts for failing, in part, to submit its 2016 taxes, according to the Attorney General’s office.HiCaliber told Team 10 investigator Jennifer Kastner it was honest mistake that’s being addressed.RELATED: Questions of fraud and abuse at prominent horse rescueThe group told 10News it received an extension on its 2016 taxes because of a personal emergency.The rescue recently came under fire for euthanasia and questionable fundraising practices. 692

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — The fire on the USS Bonhomme Richard has impacted every sailor who works on the ship, but also those who live on the ship. To help, groups have stepped up to accept donations to give to the people who have been displaced. The Navy Life Naval Base San Diego Facebook page posted a warning to watch out for fake GoFundMe or charity request pages, and said the government is not allowed to accept donated funds to fix or replace the ship.Related: Crews battle USS Bonhomme Richard fire for fourth dayThe post highlighted three official groups to donate to who are safe and reliable: Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, which is accepting online payments and mailed in checks to be donated to sailors,Support the Enlisted Project, which is accepting all types of donations, andUSO San Diego, which is also accepting all types of donations.Gillian Gonzalez, with the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, said more than 80 sailors lost all of their belongings in the fire. She advises that people who make donations to their group specify that their donation should go to the USS Bonhomme Richard sailors directly.The USO office is taking every type of donation, from hygienic items to clothes. Executive Director Ashley Camac said they’ve taken loads of items to the ship every day since the fire started.“It might have been where they lived. It certainly is where they worked.
