The Nov. 12-16 trip is widely considered a key part of China's manifold diplomacy to defend multilateralism and free trade. It works in tandem with the just-concluded China International Import Expo, as well as Chinese President Xi Jinping's scheduled attendance at the upcoming APEC meeting in Papua New Guinea and G20 summit in Argentina.
The Chinese president will arrive in Manila on Tuesday, the last leg of his Asia-Pacific tour that has already taken him to Papua New Guinea and Brunei. Xi also attended the 26th APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in Papua New Guinea.

Speaking ahead of a state visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to Portugal, Rebelo de Sousa said not only have the Portuguese and Chinese known each other for some 500 years, but also relations between the two countries have grown rapidly in recent decades.
Organized by China's Xinhua News Agency and Argentina's Federal System of Media and Public Content, the three-day event drew representatives from 13 Chinese media outlets and over a hundred news agencies from more than 20 Latin American and Caribbean nations.
"China welcomes foreign tourists and citizens to travel to China to carry out normal friendly exchanges, including doing business and studying," he said. "As long as they abide by Chinese laws and regulations, there is actually nothing to worry about."
