TORONTO, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) --- A forum jointly held by the province of Ontario, Canada, and China on Wednesday opened in the city of Toronto, with a goal to improve cooperation in science and technology between the Canadian region and the east Asian country.
Currently, Chinese companies' investment in CEE countries has exceeded 3.5 billion U.S. dollars, and investment in the opposite direction has topped 1.1 billion U.S. dollars, Zhang said.
According to Zhang, bilateral trade volume between China and the ASEAN grew from 78.2 billion U.S. dollars in 2003 to 400.1 billion U.S. dollars in 2012. Volume reached 210.56 billion U.S. dollars in the first half of this year, up 12.2 percent year on year.
"In fact, the achievements of the visit are well beyond my expectation. It's a miracle that so many achievements have been made within such a short period of time," said Tan Khai Hee, secretary general of Malaysia-China Friendship Association.
"I really believe that they are tackling some of the big issues. So that was the good news," he said.
