SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — When San Diego County leaders suspended in-restaurant dining to slow the spread of the coronavirus, many businesses were left to figure out how to feed patrons.Sardina's Italian Restaurant & Bar on Morena Blvd. was one of those restaurants forced to transition to pickup or delivery only — but did so in a way that appeals to kids (or the kid in us) forced to stay home."Looking for something fun to do with your children (and/or partner!) during this unprecedented time?" the restaurant's Facebook post read, introducing a pizza kit. "The kit will include fresh pizza dough, cheese, pepperoni and sauce to make a medium size pizza at home!"RELATED:City of San Diego announces million relief package for local businesses due to coronavirusPopular South Bay restaurant offers big discount during in-dining banAfter opening Thursday, the restaurant told 10News it had sold 20 kits in its first three hours and expects a lot more orders. It's just one of the ways San Diego County restaurants are adjusting to continue serving families. The City of San Marcos has started a list of restaurants open for takeout or delivery in the city. The North Park area also has a list of eateries offering takeout options. In addition to specials at favorite restaurants, several food delivery platforms are also working to help out restaurants during COVID-19 closures. 1390

SAN DIEGO (KGTV)-- A San Diego mother says working from home during the coronavirus pandemic cost her her job. She claims she was fired because her kids were making noises in the background of her teleconference calls."We're letting you go," Drisana Rios said. That was what her Human Resources representative told her in a call earlier this month. She said she thought the call was supposed to help resolve her workplace problems. Instead, by the end of the call, she says she was fired.Rios says it all began in mid-March when her bosses at an out-of-state insurance firm told her to work from home and telecommute via conference calls. This was in response to the state's COVID-19 lockdown orders.Rios says all parents working from home received an email from the company's regional boss that read, "thank you for the incredible effort you are putting forth through these difficult times." She says it also said that they would avoid layoffs during the pandemic.Like many parents, Rios was unable to find childcare for her four-year-old daughter and one-year-old son. Despite juggling parenting and working from home, Rios claims she was able to complete all her tasks. She adds that her clients never complained about her kids being in the background of her conference calls. The only complaints, she says, came from her male, direct superior."I said, 'Do you want me to lock my kids in the room? My one-year-old in the room? Do you want me to do that?' And… he responded and said, 'Figure it out.'" Rios said. She says she tried to arrange calls to be during her children's afternoon naptimes but claims her boss continued to ignore and demean her."He would purposely overlap schedules," Rios said.Rios then reached out to her HR department and asked how she should deal with the harassment she says she was experiencing-- a move she says that backfired a week later."She was shamed for having children, so she first elevated it to Human Resources," Daphne Delvaux, Sr. trial attorney at Gruenberg Law, said. "Human Resources took the side of the abusive manager, and terminated her for complaining."Rios has since filed a lawsuit against both her direct boss and the company for Gender discrimination, Retaliation, Gender harassment, Failure to prevent gender discrimination, Negligent supervision, Intentional infliction of emotional distress, and Wrongful termination in violation of public policy. In her complaint, Rios claims her HR representative told her that the company was "...experiencing a reduced revenue due to COVID-19 and they were laying [the] plaintiff off as a result of the pandemic." But Rios believes this was retaliation."The fact that they tried to cover it up because I went to HR, it's obvious what they did," Rios said.ABC 10News reached out to the company headquarters for comment on this lawsuit. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — WWE Wrestler John Cena paid his friend and rookie Padres pitcher, Logan Allen one dollar, after losing a bet he made a year and a half ago. The signed dollar was handed to Allen at the Ceremonial First Pitch, a day after the 22-year-old made his Major League debut at Petco Park. Allen's debut performance on the Major League mound Tuesday was nothing short of stellar. Off the mound, he also hit a single to right field, helping his own cause in a 4-1 victory for the Padres. This his was the game that changed Logan Allen's life forever, and earned him a dollar from John Cena. It all started in January 2018, when the then-Minor Leaguer had a chance encounter with Cena at a Tampa Steak House. The two clicked and made a bet. "How can I create a situation, not to have Logan fail? But to face him with the concept of failure? I bet him a dollar that he would not make it into the Major Leagues," Cena said to the Padres. They shook on it and kept in touch. Fast forward to Tuesday, and John Cena was in the Owner's Box, witnessing his friend deliver seven shutout innings. After walking off the mount, the 13-time WWE Champion was seen giving his friend a standing ovation. Allen received a long, emotional hug from his teammates. In a post-game interview with 10News, Allen said it was a day he will never forget, thanks to a unique friendship and a fun little bet. "He [Cena] is a selfless, unbelievable human being that is almost too good to believe. But he is the man, he portrays on off the screen or the ring or whatever he is doing," Allen said. 1582

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Underwater robots showcased difficult tasks and the teams in charge of the technology are hoping to take the crown for the 21st International Robosub Competition in Point Loma.A total of 47 teams from 10 different countries came together with one mission, navigate their robots through a tricky underwater course."We have mechanical, electrical, and computer science, and it's all coming together to make one cohesive vehicle,” said David Garcia, one of the team members from Cal State.Students were able to check out each other’s models to learn what sinks and what swims. For those who think the competition is all fun and games, meet Chinoros Nakthewan from Kasetsart University in Bangkok. His team was part of the Thai cave rescue effort. At the time, they determined that his robot wouldn’t be able to reach the survivors, so they resorted to using their other equipment."We made a decision to bring sonar and drone to observe the high level of the cave,” said Nakthewan. That was one of the many things credited with the successful rescue of the entire soccer team. 1099
