She said neighbors had been discussing what happened on the Nextdoor app and organized a walk for Thorborg."Some would like to finish the walk she began, some of us might walk various areas of the park here," Dooley said.Dooley said they wanted to wash away the fear surrounding the park, "we don't want our parks taken away from us, we don't want to live in fear, we want to be able to enjoy this, we want families to be able to come out here."Dooley added she will be taking precautions now when she hikes, "as women, it's probably important to have a partner with us, someone that we're hiking with."A tipster led investigators to identify a suspect as white or Hispanic, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet 3 inches tall, with a husky build and a tan complexion with dark hair. The tipster told police the man was wearing a black shirt, black shorts, and possibly a black hat, and he was walking slowly with a slight shuffle or limp.Anyone with information on the case or who was in the area of Hosp Grove Trail East, between 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., is asked to call Carlsbad Police at 760-931-2165. 1743

CARLSBAD, Calif., (KGTV) — A steady stream of showers didn't stop San Diego shoppers from seeking bargains. Hundreds of people waited in line Thursday evening for the Black Friday event at the Carlsbad Premium Outlets. Despite unfavorable conditions, many decided to shop because they did not want to break tradition. "We started doing it when I was in high school, and now I'm 26, so we've just gone every year with our mom," one woman told 10News. 10News crews got special access inside the new Adidas store during the sales event. Carlsbad Premium Outlet General Manager, Terri Mannes, said the retailer just finished their remodel, doubling in size just in time for the holiday shopping season. RELATED: Black Friday strategies that actually workMany shoppers knew they were going to stay out for hours. They came prepared. 10News saw several people wearing their pajamas for the ultimate comfortable shopping experience. Others brought their very own cart and rain gear. Some took a break from shopping to eat at many of the restaurants, which also had special Black Friday hours. Joel Solis and his mother stopped at Ruby's for a bacon cheeseburger amid the shopping rush."We came here because I have a lot of Christmas shopping to do," Solis said. RELATED: Why Black Friday is the busiest day of the year for plumbersWith the popularity of online shopping, many may think these hardcore shoppers are crazy. But some say there's no replacing old fashioned shopping. "I like it better when I look at the stuff and see the stuff in person," shopper Luis Rodriguez said. Black Friday deals at the Carlsbad Premium Outlets end at 10 p.m. Friday. 1656

CANBERRA, Australia (AP) — An Australian senator had a raw egg cracked over his head and faces censure from his fellow lawmakers after sparking outrage by blaming Muslim immigration for the New Zealand mosque shootings.Sen. Fraser Anning came under blistering criticism over tweets on Friday including one that said, "Does anyone still dispute the link between Muslim immigration and violence?""The real cause of the bloodshed on New Zealand streets today is the immigration program which allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate to New Zealand in the first place," he said in a statement.Television cameras caught a 17-year-old boy breaking an egg on Anning's head and briefly scuffling with the independent senator while he was holding a news conference Saturday in Melbourne. 780

CHICAGO (AP) — Americans are more unhappy today than they’ve been in nearly 50 years. That's according to the COVID Response Tracking Study, conducted in late May by NORC at the University of Chicago. The survey finds that just 14% of American adults say they’re very happy, down from 31% who said the same in 2018.The survey draws on nearly a half-century of research from the General Social Survey, which has collected data on American attitudes and behaviors at least every other year since 1972.No less than 29% of Americans have ever called themselves very happy in that survey.Researchers say the COVID-19 pandemic has led to two seemingly contrasting shift in public opinion: More Americans are unhappy and pessimistic about the future than in previous decades, but more are relatively satisfied financially.“In combination, these results suggest that people are comparing their finances to that of fellow Americans hurt by the economic fallouts from the pandemic while contrasting their happiness to their own mood prior to the outbreak,” the study says. 1068
