She reported on many breaking news stories including the Enterprise, AL deadly tornado that took the lives of eight Enterprise High School Students. She also went to Iraq as an embedded journalist in 2006 with the Army Corps of Engineers reporting on the rebuilding and reconstruction in Iraq.And to start off her career, Lauren began in Jefferson City, MO at KRCG-TV as a producer and fill-in reporter. Lauren attended the University of Georgia and graduated with honors with a Broadcast News Degree from the Henry Grady School of Journalism. LEBANON, Indiana — A 4-year-old girl was hospitalized in critical condition after she was accidentally shot Thursday by her younger brother, police say.According to the Lebanon Police Department, the shooting happened at the children’s grandparent’s house in the 300 block of N. Park Street shortly after 10 a.m.The 4-year-old was shot in the head by her younger brother, believed to be 2 years old, police say.The 4-year-old was taken to Riley Hospital in critical condition, police say. Investigators from the Lebanon Police Department and representatives from the Department of Family and Child Services are investigating the incident. 646

Voters in San Diego County can do so at sdvote.com. Californians in other counties should visit vote.ca.gov.The deadline to register is October 19.The second thing you want to do is make a plan for how you will vote, either by mail or in-person.“Our recommendation, particularly with the pandemic, is to vote by mail in this upcoming election,” said San Diego County Registrar of Voters Michael Vu.Because of the pandemic, election officials are sending mail-in ballots to every active, registered voter in California for the first time in state history. As long as you’re registered by October 19, you’ll get one, Vu said.When you’re making your selections, “clearly mark that ballot, similar to when you’re going to a polling place with an ink pen. Black or blue is preferred,” Vu said.Once filled out, seal the ballot in the pre-paid return envelope and sign the back. Seriously. Don’t forget.Missing or mismatched signatures, meaning the signature on the ballot doesn’t match the one on file, are the second most common reason mail ballots get disqualified.The number one reason is that they’re sent back too late. Ballots must be postmarked on or before Election Day, November 3.“Fill it out at your leisure. But send it back with plenty of time just to make sure that it's postmarked on or before Election Day in order to count,” said California Secretary of State Alex Padilla.You can return the ballot to the post office or a mail-ballot drop-off location. There are 126 drop-off locations in San Diego County. You can also drop it off at a polling place.If mail ballots aren’t your thing, you can still vote in-person at the polls. The system will send text alerts and emails when your ballot is mailed, when election officials receive it, when it’s been counted, and if there are any issues with your ballot that can be corrected, such as a missing signature.“Do a little bit of homework, know the process. Decide how you're going to vote and do it early,” Padilla said.A record 72 percent of California ballots were cast by mail in the March primary, so election officials are used to the process. (KGTV) - An innovative young baker from Mount Helix is raising money for Parkinson's disease research in honor of her beloved grandfather, who is battling the disease.As many have done during these unusual times, Zoe Bernard took on a popular pandemic hobby."I learned how to make banana bread," says the 9 year-old.As Zoe perfected the recipe, she felt like something was missing, so she started experimenting with different ingredients, getting more bold as her creations continued to receive rave reviews from friends and neighbors. She took custom orders, adding nuts, candy bar pieces and including a couple of secret ingredients. The warm reception led her to begin selling her creations, but not to pad her own pockets. She and her mother Tina Contogenis discussed what would be most beneficial. Zoe decided to donate her profits to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease research.Her "Papa" Joe Contogenis was diagnosed with the disease three years ago. The tough Marine is facing a difficult battle, with a tremor in his arm, and an increasing number of hard days.Zoe and Joe have a special relationship. Joe lives five houses down from Zoe. He describes her as "an incredible young person with the biggest heart."Their neighbors have caught on to Zoe's effort, adding items to sell at a bake sale last Saturday, or overpaying and refusing to take their change.Tina says they've been overwhelmed by the response. LEMON GROVE, Calif. (KGTV) -- A car being pursued by sheriff’s deputies crashed into the backyard swimming pool at a Lemon Grove home early Wednesday morning.San Diego County sheriff’s deputies were called to Mt. Vernon Street in response to a report of vehicles racing each other on the street.When deputies arrived, the cars fled, prompting deputies to pursue them.The pursuit was called off after deputies lost track of the vehicles. However, minutes later, a homeowner contacted authorities to report a car had landed in her swimming pool.The home is located directly below Mt. Vernon Street, and it is believed the car had gone over the side and tumbled into the pool.10News learned a man and woman escaped from the submerged car and fled the scene.No injuries were reported. 788
