NEW YORK CITY — Two men have been indicted in the 2002 murder of Run-DMC DJ Jam Master Jay, officials announced on Monday.The hip-hop star, whose real name is Jason Mizell, was shot and killed in his recording studio in Queens on Oct. 30, 2002. As a DJ, he had hands of gold.The NYPD said Jam Master Jay was part of a cocaine trafficking conspiracy that led to his murder, and said the DJ had threatened to cut one of his alleged killers out of a deal with a Maryland distributor.Jay was playing video games on a couch in the studio shortly before two men were buzzed in by his assistant, Lydia High. Nissan is preparing to oust its chairman, Carlos Ghosn, after announcing the discovery of "significant acts of misconduct" over many years by him and another top executive."Nissan has been providing information to the Japanese Public Prosecutors Office and has been fully cooperating with their investigation," the Japanese carmaker said in a statement. NEW ORLEANS (AP) — New Orleans police say 11 people were shot in an early morning shooting on the edge of the city’s famed French Quarter.A police release says two people are in critical condition and no arrests have been made. NEW ORLEANS — A Black man whose life sentence for stealing hedge clippers in a home burglary drew scathing criticism from the chief justice of Louisiana's Supreme Court has been granted parole. Louisiana's high court had denied release for 63-year-old Fair Wayne Bryant earlier this year for the 1997 burglary that netted him a set of hedge clippers. In dissent, Chief Justice Bernette Johnson said the habitual offender law under which Bryant was sentenced was a “modern manifestation” of Jim Crow era laws aimed at jailing Black people for simple crime.
