SAN YSIDRO, Calif. (KGTV) - It’s been two days since 29 year old Frank Stricker drove his truck into a crowd of street vendors near the border in Mexico. Court records from Utah show Stricker should have never been behind the wheel in the first place because he has a suspended license. The court records show Stricker has been arrested six times since 2008 in Utah and has 47 criminal charges, all mostly drug related. RELATED: 'We were fleeing for our lives.' Passenger speaks out after Tijuana crashStricker was last arrested on May 6, 2019. Police say he was driving on a suspended license, without a registration and no proof of insurance. Police say he also had drug paraphernalia in the vehicle when they pulled him over. Mexican authorities tell 10News Stricker is facing charges of attempted homicide and property damages. They expect him to be arraigned Thursday in Mexican court. In the crash Monday afternoon, Stricker hit 17 vehicles, 12 vendor carts and injured three people. SAN YSIDRO (KGTV) -- Business owners and commuters from Mexico are nervously waiting and watching to see what President Trump's next move will be. Tuesday afternoon, the president told reporters he is still deciding whether he'll shut down the southern border. Business owners in San Ysidro say just the mere threat is keeping people away. "There's a lot of workers who cross daily, and most of them live in Mexico, so that definitely affects them, but people who are in retail it definitely affects our sales because customers don't want to get stuck at the border like they did last time there was a 5 hour shut down," said Govinda Figueroa. She said when the border at San Ysidro closed in November, it took weeks to make up the loss. "Last time there was a shut down it actually affected our sales for the next two weeks," said Figueroa.Juan Cisneros lives in Tijuana, but walks to San Ysidro for work. He says the thought of the port of entry closing, even for a day, scares him. "If we work in Mexico, the money is not enough, that's why we have to cross here to have a better living, so that's the reason we cross most of the time, so it will change our lives," said Cisneros. During Tuesday's news conference, the president said in the last two days, Mexico has done a better job of stopping the flow of Central American migrants from coming through its southern border. Figueroa said she doesn't know what to think. "I think it's 50/50. I think a lot of us think it's just another political move and just another you know, empty promise or threat, but the people who cross are afraid it's going to happen and they don't want to get stuck at the border or on this side and not being able to cross back." 1720

(KGTV) - A Central California teacher, who also serves as a reserve police officer, was placed on administrative leave after accidentally firing his gun inside a classroom.Seaside High School instructor Dennis Alexander was teaching a public safety course for an Administration of Justice class when his gun went off, according to KSBW."Alexander was believed to have been providing instruction related to public safety awareness," Seaside Police told the station.One student suffered non-major injuries and was taken to the hospital. According to the school district, Alexander was pointing his gun toward the ceiling when it went off.Alexander was also placed on administrative leave at the Sand City Police Department, KSBW reported."I have concerns about why he was displaying a loaded firearm in a classroom. We will be looking into that. My first concern was that no one was hurt," Sand City Police Chief Brian Ferrante told KSBW. 970
