SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Mayor Kevin Faulconer and Jewish leaders celebrated the second night of Hanukkah Monday, lighting the second candle of a massive Menorah outside City Hall.As the second night of the Jewish Festival of Lights got underway, Rabbi Zalman Carlebach said it was important for leaders to show their support and celebrate in light of recent anti-Semetic incidents around the U.S. "In light of the current events that are happening around the country, this world could use some more light. America could use some more light," said Rabbi Carlebach.San Diego has numerous Menorah lighting events planned as well as other celebrations throughout the county as Hanukkah continues — running through Dec. 10. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — It’s approaching one year since a San Diego Navy Sailor was hurt in an explosion while on deployment, leaving him paralyzed.Saturday, community members rallied together to support wounded sailor, Kenton Stacy, on his journey to recovery. Hundreds of people gathered in Liberty Station for the Stacy Strong 5k.“We feel very blessed,” says Kenton Stacy’s wife, Lindsey. “All the love and support we’ve seen over the last year just has been amazing.”The event had live music, a silent auction, and awards for race winners. During this time last year, the Navy EOD tech was deployed in Afghanistan when an IED exploded while he was clearing out a hospital. The explosion left him paralyzed from the neck down.“It’s definitely been a very hard year… There’s been highs, there’s been lows,” says Lindsey Stacy. Her husband has not made it home from the hospital just yet but, today he was transported and joined family and friends at the event.“I just think he feels so blessed," she added.The funds for the event will go to the EOD warrior foundation. The organization provides financial assistance and resources to wounded active duty service members and veterans. Stacy’s “Alive Day” anniversary is November 9.  1270

Booths will be set up at the festival where kids can learn about different nationalities and how they’ve contributed to the makeup of San Diego.There will also be a spaghetti, pie or ice cream eating contests. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Just ahead of this holiday week, San Diego's Cross Border Xpress (CBX) unveiled new biometric facial comparison technology. The CEO of the sky bridge that connects travelers directly to the Tijuana International Airport told ABC 10News that it will further secure and streamline travel into the United States.The U.S.-Mexico border is still closed to non-essential travel because of COVID-19. CBX CEO Jorge Goytortua said CBX is still not encouraging people to travel right now but if they do, they can take advantage of this technology.“Within seconds, the technology will recognize the passenger in a [Customs and Border Protection (CBP)] database,” said Goytortua. He told ABC 10News that the comparison process happens only at a time and place where travelers are already required by law to verify their identity by presenting travel documents. Goytortua says that when a traveler arrives at the CBP processing area, he or she will have a photo taken at the primary inspection point. A CBP officer will do a review by retrieving the traveler's passport or visa photo from government holdings. The new photo will be compared to the previously collected photo.“It's going to be a hands-free process. It's going to be a much faster process,” he told ABC 10News.He added that CBX does not have access to the photos. Only CBP officers can see them. If travelers are still concerned about privacy, he said it's not mandatory to use the technology. “You can ask the officer if you don’t want to be processed like that then you will be processed the traditional way with your document read it on the scan. A CBP officer [will] research on their system and make sure that the person that is presenting the document is the one there in front of the officer,” he stated. 1790

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - IKEA is recalling a type of candy sold at certain stores in California, including the San Diego location in Mission Valley.The Godis P?skkyckling marshmallow candy may be contaminated. The chain did not immediately release the source of the possible contamination but said the health risk is low.IKEA said the candy is a seasonal product and only 400 bags have been sold since it became available in February.If you bought the candy, you may return it to the nearest IKEA store for a full refund. 523
