DETROIT — A flyer distributed around the west side of Detroit is causing concern. Is it racist? Is it real? Is it reversing Detroit's history?The flyer is an advertisement for a community discussion about "White integration into the Russell Woods-Sullivan area." The neighborhood has been majority black for years, but gentrification has recently brought more white people to the area. Rhonda J. Smith organized the meeting and wrote the flyers. She says she chose the wording deliberately to hit some nerves. She's lived in the Russell Woods-Sullivan neighborhood for more than 20 years and is seeing a change with more white people moving into homes."I was tired of hearing the same story about the white gentrifiers and the black victims," Smith said. DENVER — It was a dream wedding for Kacie and Troy Sanford, two Texans who tied the knot Friday in beautiful Berthoud, Colorado. Kacie's best friend, photographer Lenzi Holmes, flew up from Fort Worth, Texas, to photograph the event, shooting countless pictures she put on SD cards inside a case reminiscent of those old CD cases you would flip open to find what you were looking for. On Saturday, Holmes and her husband checked out of the Hilton Denver City Center hotel, then drove through Boulder and into the mountains to sightsee before flying back to Texas. At Denver International Airport, Holmes realized her SD case was gone. She grabbed a cab and frantically tried to retrace her steps. "I had a severe panic attack," she said. "I went to our car rental place, I went to the last place we filled up with gas, and dug through the trash there; I went back to the hotel."The pictures were nowhere to be found, and Holmes told KMGH she could barely find the strength to call the couple and tell them the news. When she did, she was stunned by Kacie's response."I told her I loved her. I love her and who she is and I wouldn't want anyone else there on my day," Kacie said. "We have one beautiful shot that we will keep forever, and if we cherish that one, we cherish that one... and it's OK."Holmes posted a plea on social media, offering a ,000 reward for the case. Zoo officials said they made the difficult decision to euthanize the lion, Prosperity, because zookeepers observed her mobility and quality of life decrease over a period of several months. Drinking coffee could activate the body's fat-fighting defenses, a discovery that could have potential implications in the battle against obesity and diabetes.In a study published Monday, researchers at the University of Nottingham said that coffee may help stimulate our brown fat reserves, also known as brown adipose tissue, which play a key role in how quickly we can burn calories.There are two forms of fat cells, brown cells and white cells, and each plays a different role in our metabolism.While brown cells help generate heat, white cells are responsible for the storage of fat -- or, energy -- ready for release as needed. Levels of brown fat are known to be high in children but recent findings on the presence of brown fat in adults has restored hope to use them as targets to treat obesity."Brown fat works in a different way to other fat in your body and produces heat by burning sugar and fat, often in response to cold, said professor Michael Symonds, from the School of Medicine at the University of Nottingham, who co-directed the study."Increasing its activity improves blood sugar control as well as improving blood lipid levels and the extra calories burnt help with weight loss. However, until now, no one has found an acceptable way to stimulate its activity in humans."The scientists started by testing out coffee on stem cells to see if it would stimulate brown fat. DEER PARK, Texas — A fire burning at a petrochemical storage facility in suburban Houston could burn for two more days as firefighters take a defensive posture and let the blaze burn through fuel stored in tanks at the site, officials said Monday.Ray Russell, spokesman for Channel Industries Mutual Aid, which is helping in the response, said firefighters have had "pretty good success controlling the fire" and stopping it from spreading to other tanks. The tanks that are burning contain gas, oil and chemicals, according to Intercontinental Terminals Company, which owns the facility.In one tank, Russell said, crews are working to pump out a flammable liquid to deprive the fire of fuel. Even with that effort, the fire could burn until Wednesday, he said.A column of black smoke rose from the plant, but the city of Deer Park and ITC said tests indicated the air was not dangerous as of late Monday morning. Schools in Deer Park and La Porte were shut down as testing continues.The cause of the fire remains under investigation.Asked whether the result of air-quality tests could be released to the media, ITC spokeswoman Alice Richardson said they had already been provided to city officials and she would check on whether she could share them with reporters.A private air monitoring contractor declared the readings "favorable," Deer Park's Office of Emergency Management said just before noon (1 p.m. ET).
