ANAHEIM, Calif. (KGTV) - Wonder what it feels like to soar above the "Star Wars" universe? Well now, you can — at least what's been constructed in Anaheim thus far.Disneyland's "Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge" expansion is slated to open next year and drone footage captured by the park shows the land taking shape.Steel frames of the galactic planet of Batuu have started to tower over the park. In 2019, the land will host Jedis, stormtroopers, and more among old trade routes, crossroads, and merchants. But the land will also take guests to the next level, offering an immersive look at the iconic Millennium Falcon and putting guests in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Here's a look at the drone footage from Walt Disney Imagineering:In addition to the Galaxy's Edge addition, Pixar Pier at Disney's California Adventure park is also slated to open in 2019. 917

An army of 100 life-sized cutouts of Mark Zuckerbergs took over the US Capitol lawn ahead of the Facebook founder's Senate appearance Tuesday. The stunt is the work of global activist group Avaaz, which wants Zuckerberg, Internet CEOs and government regulators to fight disinformation campaigns across Facebook and other social platforms."We know Facebook is doing things to address the fake news problem, but they are doing it in a way to that is too small and too secretive," Avaaz campaign director Nell Greenberg told CNN.The Avaaz campaign also includes an open letter in response to Zuckerberg's apology, which more than 850,000 people across the world have signed. Zuckerberg took out full-page ads in several British and American newspapers to apologize for a "breach of trust" in the Cambridge Analytica scandal. The letter addresses four key elements the organization wants Facebook and other internet sites to address: tell the truth, ban the bots, alert the public and fund the fact-checkers."We want Facebook to tell the truth regarding the work that is being done to stop this and the scale of the fake news and fake post problem. We just want to know the transparency of the problem and what is being done to tackle it," Greenberg said. The group says the cutouts represents the hundreds of millions of fake accounts still spreading disinformation on Facebook. Each is wearing a shirt that reads "Fix Fakebook."This is the first time Zuckerberg will personally sit for questions from Congress. His testimony marks a pivotal moment for Facebook, as Zuckerberg will spend two days answering lawmakers' questions about what the company is doing to protect users' privacy. 1687

As coronavirus cases reached a new high on Friday in the US, Dr. Anthony Fauci now believes a mask mandate is necessary to stop the spread of the virus. But Dr. Fauci acknowledges enforcing a mask mandate is a challenge. Adding to the challenge, officials in recent days say that family gatherings are becoming a significant reason why cases are growing throughout the US.“I think that would be a great idea to have everybody do it uniformly,” Fauci said in an interview on CNN on Friday. “And one of the issues though, I get the argument say, 'Well, if you mandate a mask, then you're going to have to enforce it and that'll create more of a problem.' Well, if people are not wearing masks, then maybe we should be mandating it."The University of Washington’s Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation projects that near universal mask wearing outside of the household would save anywhere from 60,000 to 160,000 lives in the US between now and February 1.While many public institutions, such as grocery stores, restaurants, and other facilities have implemented mask and social distancing policies to help slow the virus, public health officials say smaller, more interment gatherings, are where many are letting their guard down. With colder weather setting in and major holidays upcoming, public health officials are becoming increasingly concerned as cases increase throughout much of the US.“Smaller more intimate gatherings of family, friends and neighbors may be driving infection as well especially as these gatherings move indoors and adherence to face coverings and social distancing may not be optimal,” said Dr. Jay Butler, deputy director of infectious diseases at the CDC. “I recognize that we are all getting tired of the impact that COVID-19 has had on our lives. We get tired of wearing masks but it continues to be as important as it’s ever been and I would say it’s more important than ever as we move into the fall season.”Health and Human Service Secretary Alex Azar agrees with Dr. Butler’s assessment.“We’ve got to keep focused on washing our hands, watching our distance and wearing our face coverings when we can't watch our distance and in particular being careful in household gatherings. This has become a major vector of disease spread,” Azar told CNN’s Jim Sciutto. 2303

An Iowa grandmother won half the 7 million Powerball prize and she didn't even know it at first.Lerynne West, 51, bought her tickets at Casey's General Store in the small town of Redfield, Iowa, while grabbing pizza and coffee with her sister. She said it was a special day because she had bought her first home and was moving in that day.West thought she put the lottery ticket in her purse, but she accidentally left it on the floor of her sister's truck. It lay there for a couple days. When a friend texted the day after the drawing to ask if she had won, West said she hadn't had a chance to check. She rifled through her purse and realized she didn't have the ticket. She quickly called her sister, who found it.West looked at the photo of the ticket her sister sent her and checked the numbers on the lottery's website -- she had won!"I told my sister to get in her truck and get that ticket and get up here right now! And, drive slow," West said in an Iowa Lottery press release.West's ticket and a ticket purchased in New York split the 7 million Powerball jackpot in the October 27 drawing. The holder of the New York ticket has not come forward, according to the Iowa Lottery.West opted to take home 8.1 million in a lump sum, minus what's taken out in taxes. Her other option was a 3.9 million annuity that would be disbursed over 29 years. She is the winner of the largest lottery prize to date in Iowa. 1435
