A video appears to show a Westland Police Officer using a Taser on a man as he is holding his two-month-old baby. The incident happened on Friday night where neighbors were having a barbecue. Witnesses said police arrived because of a call about a fight. “We were just barbecuing, and we saw the cops come up,” neighbor Kelvin Williams said. “They came up and asked us who was fighting. We were like, ‘You got the wrong house.’”Williams said they didn’t understand what the officers meant. “At that point, my friend Ray got a little agitated like you’re coming over to my house, my property and you're asking me about something I don’t know about,” Williams said. According to witnesses, Ray Brown then began to argue with officers. Williams said that is when he decided to record video on his cell phone. In the video, officers told Brown was going to be arrested, then ordered Brown's son to be taken away from the scene. “That’s my child. He can be exactly where he’s at. Give me my child. Give me my child,” Brown said. Officers then crowd into Brown with a taser out. Nichole Skidmore, Brown’s girlfriend, and mother of two-month-old Christopher tried to take the baby.It appears in the video that Brown was still holding Christopher and in the process of passing him to Skidmore when officers deployed a Taser. “I had to catch the baby," Skidmore said. "I was in the street talking with the cops. I had to come over. The taser is on this side of him, and the baby is over here. As soon as they start tasing him the baby flew out of his hands and I had to grab him, or he would have fell.”Brown was arrested and placed in custody soon after that. According to a Facebook post by the Westland Police Community Partnership, Brown attempted to grab his child only after learning he would be arrested. The department says that officers chose to deploy a Taser due to the "close quarters," and that the child was also in the hands of the mother at the time the Taser was used.The Community Partnership also stated that a "thorough internal investigation" would be conducted.  2158

A UPS driver in Clackamas County, Oregon called his wife who then called 911 after he heard cries of "help" coming from inside a residence while the driver was on his route. It turns out that the UPS driver was tricked by a parrot. The incident took place Monday evening, according to the Oregonian. The Oregonian reported that the UPS driver became distressed over what sounded like a human's cry for help. He then called his wife, who then called 911, alerting authorities to the screams. Deputy Hayden Sanders responded to the scene, expecting it to be tense. But thankfully, within minutes, Sanders had a reason to laugh. Sanders confirmed that Diego the parrot was behind the screams. After concluding that everyone, including Diego, was safe, Sanders posed for a photo with the mischievous parrot. The photo was then posted on the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.  929

A Texas man is facing riot charges in Minnesota for allegedly firing a semiautomatic rifle into a Minneapolis police building during demonstrations following the death of George Floyd.A criminal complaint alleges Ivan Harrison Hunter, 26, is a member of the Boogaloo Bois, a group that espouses violent anti-government views, and that he drove to Minneapolis at the end of May with the intent of participating in a riot.U.S. Attorney Erica MacDonald announced Hunter faces charges of traveling across state lines to participate in a riot.Floyd, who was Black, died on Memorial Day after a white Minneapolis police officer pressed his knee on his neck for nearly eight minutes. The incident sparked protests against police racism and brutality across the country.Federal investigators have said he fired 13 rounds from a semiautomatic rifle into the Minneapolis Police Department's Third Precinct building while looters were inside. The building later burned. They say they have video of the incident and Hunter was identified from a screen grab of that video.According to the complaint, Hunter made statements on social media describing what he did in Minneapolis.Police in Austin, Texas, stopped a pickup truck on June 3 in which Hunter was a passenger for multiple traffic violations. Hunter had six loaded magazines for a semiautomatic rifle in a tactical vest he was wearing. Officers also found multiple firearms in the truck.Several days after the stop, federal investigators learned of Hunter’s online affiliation with Boogaloo Bois member Steven Carrillo.Federal prosecutors have charged Carrillo in the death of a federal protective officer in Oakland, California, during a protest over Floyd’s death on the same night Hunter allegedly opened fire in Minneapolis.MacDonald said Hunter made his initial court appearance Thursday in San Antonio, Texas. A rare and deadly complication from the coronavirus infection is now being reported in adults, after several deadly cases in children earlier this year.Multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) was reported in teens and children after the start of the pandemic, with tragic outcomes. More than 1,000 cases have been reported to the CDC as of October, of those about 20 children have died.There are now more than two dozen reported cases in adults, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and it is being called MIS-A, for “adults.”The CDC warns that symptoms of MIS-A can present in patients who did not have COVID-19 symptoms but later tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies.“These patients might not have positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR or antigen test results, and antibody testing might be needed to confirm previous SARS-CoV-2 infection. Because of the temporal association between MIS-A and SARS-CoV-2 infections, interventions that prevent COVID-19 might prevent MIS-A,” the CDC’s report states.In children, symptoms have included shock, cardiac dysfunction, abdominal pain, and elevated inflammatory signs. According to the CDC, there have been similar symptoms spotted in adults.“Findings indicate that adult patients of all ages with current or previous SARS-CoV-2 infection can develop a hyperinflammatory syndrome resembling MIS-C,” the CDC states.The CDC’s report looks at 16 patients who ranged in age from 21 to 50, of those, nine had no reported underlying medical conditions. Of the 16 patients tracked in the studies, two of them died.The time between a coronavirus infection and the development of MIS-A is unclear, and varied widely in the cases studied by the CDC.Some of the patients had tested positive for COVID-19 several days before they were admitted to the hospital with MIS-A symptoms, at least one patient tested positive 41 days before. A few of them had tested positive for COVID-19, then tested negative before they developed MIS-A. 1999
