CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. (KGTV) — A pair of brothers was arrested this week after police say they tried to carjack a man working on his vehicle on Interstate 5, assaulted him, and fled onto Camp Pendleton property. The brothers were traveling on southbound I-5 on Tuesday at about 10 a.m. when their Ford Mustang broke down just north of Las Pulgas Road. The pair walked to Vista Point and asked a truck driver for a ride to Long Beach, but the driver said no, California Highway Patrol said. The brothers then approached a 58-year-old man from San Diego who was working on his broken-down vehicle. The man was leaning over the engine of his vehicle with the hood up when one of the brothers placed the man in a headlock while the other brother assaulted the man in the face and body, CHP said. The truck driver who denied the brothers a lift saw the attack and came to the victim's aid. The brothers fled the area west, and climbed over a fence onto Camp Pendleton, said CHP.Camp Pendelton Police were nearby and quickly found and detained the two. CHP officers responded to the scene as well. The victim received moderate to major injuries during the assault and is expected to recover.Gonzalo Lopez, 24, and Eusebio Lopez, 19, both from Long Beach, were arrested and charged with assault and battery, and attempted carjacking. Can someone in this election truly be undecided in this election? Sure they can. With less than 70 days to go until the election, undecided voters are poised to play a deciding role in whether President Donald Trump or Joe Biden is the president of the United States come the end of January. GEOGRAPHY MATTERSWhile undecided voters matter everywhere, they really matter in crucial counties in swing states. Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, is one example. In 2008 and 2012, this county, which encompasses towns like Wilkes-Barre, voted for President Barack Obama. In 2016, the county voted for Trump. Luzerne is one of three counties in Pennsylvania to have flipped like that. Political scientists refer to counties like these as "pivot counties." WHAT UNDECIDED VOTERS ARE SAYINGRobert Rinaldi is a school bus driver in the county. His lunch buddy, Gene, at D's Diner likes Trump but Rinaldi isn't sure. "I guess I’m hearing a lot of these negative stories and it’s confusing me," Rinaldi said. "Like for instance, this last one with his sister, a retired judge, she’s blasting the guy," Rinaldi said. Meanwhile, Rinaldi is unsure about Joe Biden. He is growing agitated Democrats repeatedly say he is from nearby Scranton. "It's starting to get old, I understand he used to live here but he's been gone for so long," Rinaldi said. Other customers are undecided for other reasons"I don’t think I’ll ever vote unless something drastic happens," Aubree Patronick, a mom said while eating a club sandwich. Patronick doesn't think she'll cast a vote in this year's election. She is tired of the noise and angry Facebook posts."I don’t need a thousand people coming at my comments," Patronick said. Then there is John Colon, who just left the Army. "I truly don’t know who the lesser of two evils is," Colon said, commenting about Biden and Trump. 1850

CANARSIE, Brooklyn — This past weekend has been excruciating for a Brooklyn woman who was the victim of a heartless robbery.Anaika Forbes' 13-year-old shih tzu pekingese was swiped from her parked car. The brazen theft happened Saturday at about 3:45 p.m. on Avenue N near Canarsie Road in Canarsie, where the vehicle was parked.Forbes, who lives in a basement apartment on Avenue N, was overwhelmed that day dealing with flooding in her unit due to afternoon showers.“I was just going back and forth to the car bringing my stuff out, it was raining and just so much was happening,” she told PIX11.Her dog, Taffy, was placed in the unlocked car during the shuffle. When Forbes stepped back into her home to grab a few more things, an unknown woman snatched Taffy, Forbes said.In surveillance footage obtained by Forbes taken from across the street, a woman is seen opening the passenger car door of Forbes' dark-colored car, grabbing the dog and nonchalantly walking away with her by the leash.“She’s not a barking dog. She’s super sweet; she would go with anyone,” a tearful Forbes said. “I just want her back.”Forbes, who canvassed the neighborhood all day and night on Saturday and for a good part of Sunday, has launched an online campaign to get Taffy back, even offering a 0 reward for her return.“Please return Taffy, no questions asked,” she said in a plea to the unidentified woman. “She is my everything, I’ve had her since she was 3 months old.” 1466

California Democrat Mike Levin defeated Republican Diane Harkey by nearly 28,000 votes in a hotly contested race for a vacant US House seat, securing another blue vote for the new Democratically controlled House, CNN projects. Levin, an environmental attorney, ran an energetic shoe-leather campaign in California's 49th Congressional District, with an eye toward activating younger voters. He cast Harkey, a former member of the state's Board of Equalization, as a "rubber stamp" for President Donald Trump, a characterization that likely played well with the district's wealthy, college-educated voters. On Sunday, nearly two weeks after the midterm elections, the closely watched race was finally called in favor of Levin, who secured 55.5% of the vote compared to Harkey's 44.5%. The Democratic pickup, which comes in a district that was represented by retiring Republican Rep. Darrell Issa, is another win for the party, which has been rounding up additional House seats since the election.The-CNN-Wire 1013
