(KGTV) - The Poway Unified School District sent parents an email over the weekend on their action plan after a water boil advisory was issued."My boys and I have had the discussion of the importance of safety," Mother and Senior Management Analyst of Poway Public Works Jessica Parks said of her twin high schoolers. "The rule of thumb is don't get the water in your mouth."The City of Poway issued a precautionary boil water advisory Saturday.The city says it believes the recent storm possibly compromised the potable drinking water system.As a precaution, the city is advising resident to boil tap water or use bottled water for drinking or cooking until further notice."I am really pleased with the Poway Unified School District for getting that message out there, speaking to all the parents and letting them know safety for their children is number one," Parks said.Poway Unified School District sent this email to parents: 951

President Donald Trump has told his longtime friend and sometimes lawyer Rudy Giuliani that he’s “going to beat” the coronavirus.The New York Post says Trump called Giuliani on Saturday to assure him he’s doing fine following a sobering assessment from the White House chief of staff.Trump reportedly told Giuliani on the call: “I feel I could get out of here right now. But they’re telling me there can always be a backstep with this disease. But I feel I could go out and do a rally."Trump also reportedly explained that he continued to engage in a high-risk activity despite the pandemic because he’s the “president of the United States. Preflight COVID-19 testing is starting to become an option to avoid doing a 14-day quarantine when you get to your final destination.Starting November 1, you'll be allowed to travel to Costa Rica from the United States if you get a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of leaving the U.S.The Bahamas is taking it a step further. Starting November 1, you can travel there if you get a negative PCR test 7 days before your trip. Then, you'll have to get a rapid antigen test when you get there and four-days later.Hawaii lifted its 14-day quarantine last week for people who have a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the flight.“Having these alternatives to quarantine related to travel creates some confusion about what a test really means in the context of quarantine, so I worry a little bit that we're losing that message that a test is only just a moment in time,” said Dr. Shira Doron, an infectious disease physician at Tufts Medical Center.Doron says because of the incubation period for COVID-19, you can have it any time between 2 and 14 days after you're exposed. A negative result is only at the time you took the test.Recent studies have shown your risk of contracting the coronavirus on your flight is very low if strict mask wearing is followed.“I think, you know, the bigger issue is an influx of people incubating COVID-19 into an island that may have done a really good job controlling the pandemic and on the flip side really needs that tourist revenue,” said Doron.She says places like the Bahamas that require multiple tests is more effective.It could be a challenge to get that test before you leave. Doron says many hospitals stopped doing pre-and-post travel testing because of a lack of supplies.The turnaround time on getting the test is also an issue. (KGTV) - Poway synagogue shooting suspect John Earnest should not have been able to buy the gun used in the April attack, according to state law.California Fish and Wildlife officials confirmed to 10News that the hunting license that Earnest, 19, used to get around the state's age limit of 21 was invalid at the time of purchase.Earnest picked up the AR-15 style weapon used in the attack from San Diego Guns on April 26, a day before he attacked worshipers at the Chabad of Poway, killing congregant Lori Kaye and injuring three others. Search warrants show that Earnest did have a hunting license but it was not valid until July 1, 2019. RELATED: Poway shooting suspect did not have valid hunting license when he bought gun, state senator saysIn other words, it was too soon for him to buy the gun used in the attack. On Tuesday, an employee at San Diego Guns declined an interview but said "We did everything properly. We did everything we needed."If that's the case, then question remains over how Earnest was able to buy the gun. The onus could be on the state. Danielle Rudolph directs sales and operations at Poway Weapons and Gear Range, which was not involved with Earnest. She says people who buy firearms must fill out a detailed application that goes to the state Justice Department. Applicants have to include details on any exemptions, such as hunting licenses. After a 10 day waiting period, the customer returns to the store to find out if the state approved their application."California does have one of the strictest background checks in the nation," Rudolph said. "We know they go through numerous different databases and if it comes back approved, we don't have anything else to go on based on what California is telling us."Rudolph added a gun shop can stop a sale if a customer is making erratic or dangerous comments, though that is rare.
