IMPERIAL BEACH (KGTV) - A man was arrested Saturday in Imperial Beach after residents say he rushed into a home and wrecked their bathroom, leaving blood everywhere. Resident Miguel Ledesma said their front door was open to let in the breeze, "I heard some noise behind me and I turned around and the door was wide open, so I saw him rush through." The man was mumbling about being chased. Ledesma said the man backed up, tripping over the Christmas tree, knocking it over in the process, and went into the bathroom. Ledesma said that's when his brother shut the door to protect the family."There were screams, the lady who lives in there she was screaming pretty loudly," Neighbor Matthew Rodriguez said."We started hearing all these noises, all the breaking, the mirror, the shower curtain, everything in there is destroyed, there's bloody pretty much," Ledesma said. Officers finally removed the man, handcuffing him. The man was later loaded into an ambulance.He had visible cuts on his neck and arms, and a bandage around his head. Ledesma said he came in without a scratch and left bloody."It was pretty scary because we didn't know what he was going to do before the cops showed up," Rodriguez said."We're all okay, he didn't take anything, he just destroyed the bathroom pretty much," Ledesma said. He said they reached out to the property manager to get the bathroom fixed, but his mother was already cleaning with bleach. 1440

How do you re-capture a gigantic runaway pig?According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, deputies received a call on Saturday that a pig "the size of a mini horse" was roaming a local neighborhood.Deputies were quickly able to track down the swine and determined where he lived, but still had to figure out how to corral him and get him home. It turns out, pigs don't need to be corralled if there are Doritos on hand.According to the San Bernardino Sheriff's Office, Deputy Ponce had a bag of Doritos on hand in her lunch box and was able to lure the pig back to his home by laying a trail of chips on the street.The pig made it safely home and deputies were able to secure the gate. Ponce called the journey "fun."The Doritos appeared to be of the Cool Ranch variety. It's unclear if the pig would have been swayed by Nacho Cheese chips.  880

In an open letter published Thursday, Syracuse University said that a large gathering of underclassmen on Wednesday night may have already derailed the school's plans to keep the campus open through the fall semester before classes have even begun. According to The Daily Orange, the school's student newspaper, more than 100 students, many of them not wearing masks, gathered on the school's quad on Wednesday night.It's unclear what event the students were attending, or why the students were crowded together.In-person classes at the school are scheduled to begin on Monday.Students at Syracuse have been asked to sign a "Stay Safe Pledge" ahead of the fall semester. In the pledge, students promised to maintain a social distance of six feet, limit gatherings to no more than 25 people and wear a face covering on campus. All students — even those who choose not to sign the pledge — could be referred to the school's Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities for not complying.In its open letter, entitled "Last Night's Selfish and Reckless Behavior," Vice Chancellor J. Michael Haynie called the gathering "unsettling.""... the students who gathered on the Quad last night may have done damage enough to shut down campus, including residence halls and in-person learning, before the academic semester even begins," Haynie wrote.Haynie closed his letter by challenging students to practice better social distancing as the semester went on."I want you to understand right now and very clearly that we have one shot to make this happen," Haynie wrote. "The world is watching, and they expect you to fail. Prove them wrong. Be better. Be adults. Think of someone other than yourself. And also, do not test the resolve of this university to take swift action to prioritize the health and well-being of our campus and Central New York community."Several other large universities have already experienced outbreaks of COVID-19 just days after welcoming students back to campus. Notre Dame shifted to remote learning after 150 students tested positive for COVID-19 after a week on campus.
