SAN DIEGO (KGTV)  - San Diego State University unveiled Thursday details about its plan for a stadium in Mission Valley that could serve SDSU and a possible NFL team.The stadium is currently proposed as a home for the Aztecs, with 35,000 seats. It could be expanded into a 55,000 seat stadium for the NFL, according to SDSU athletic director John David Wicker.Details about the stadium include an aluminum-panel exterior designed to resemble boats. The panels would change color throughout the day and be illuminated with LED lighting at night.Other features include more than 82 suites, 50 loge boxes, two end-zone party decks, six exterior balconies, and five different club sections.The site would also offer 90,000 square feet of retail space.The stadium is being designed by global architecture and design firm Populous, which also designed Yankee Stadium, the London Olympics, and the Super Bowl.SoccerCity supporters, who want to bring a Major League Soccer team to Mission Valley, responded with a statement from SoccerCity project manager Nick Stone. 1077

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -San Diego is expecting the most powerful Santa Ana winds of the season this week. The winds are expected to pick up late Tuesday into Thursday. Cal Fire is urging residents not to let their guard down, but cautions, this is not the time to start clearing defensible space. "This week we really want people to tap the brakes on going out and clearing their property, we don't want them to start the next fire trying to do the right thing, the wrong way, at the wrong time, so please don't clear your property this week, focus on having an evacuation plan so you can get your family members, pets and livestock out when the need arises," said Captain Thomas Shoots, Public Information Officer for Cal Fire San Diego.RELATED: Check 10News Pinpoint Weather ConditionsFirefighters from San Diego, Chula Vista, Coronado, Imperial Beach, and Cal Fire are helping to fight the fires in Sonoma County and the Getty Fire in Los Angeles. Still, Shoots said there is no strain on local resources. "We know that a lot of times, this time of year, we'll have multiple major events happen at the same time, so we can send out plenty of resources and still be staffed up in San Diego so we are watching that very closely and we want to make sure that if anything takes off here we have plenty of resources to draw from," said Captain Shoots. Crews are able to monitor all the fire activity across the state from the command center at the Cal Fire Headquarters in Rancho San Diego. "Regionally, we're looking pretty good, we're fortunate that both fires that we had on Friday we were able to jump on it, put a ton of resources on it, and we were able to stop those before they became major incidents," said Captain Shoots. According to Shoots, this has been a mild fire season compared to last year. "We continue to see fires this year, but most people haven't heard about a lot of the fires that we've had because we've been able to keep them small. With Cal Fire, our goal is to keep 95% of the fires at 10 acres or less, and we've been fortunate with that this year because the conditions have been milder," said Shoots. (KGTV) - A San Diego-based rancher says their business has grown as the corporate meat industry struggles.In the past months, Doug Lindamood, of SonRise Ranch, says they've seen their ranch experience a surge in business.“Surprisingly, in an odd set of circumstances, we’ve had a ranch that’s been very successful during these times,” he said. He said their business has easily tripled since the beginning of the pandemic. They’ve seen more people seeking food safety, so they’re buying meat in bulk. The ranch typically sells about 10-12 half or full cows a year, but that’s recently increased to 10-12 a week. This boost comes as the industrial meat industry is hurting across the country. Lindamood said a handful of companies produce a majority of the meat in the U.S. and the big players have been hit with sick employees, causing closures and less supply. “Highly consolidated plants being affected by basically a pandemic which then has the potential to shut down a vast portion of our production,” he said. Lindamood adds this has been a ticking time bomb that needs to be addressed. “For every one of those small plants that shut down over the last 20 or 30 years, we lost a small piece of our soul with respect to connecting to our consumers,” Lindamood said. “We need not one or 10 of me — which there are maybe five or six of us in the Southern California region. San Diego, Calif. (KGTV) - Some military legal experts are raising concerns about President Donald Trump's involvement in the war crimes trial of Navy Seal Eddie Gallagher. This comes after the President ordered that medals and honors for prosecutors in the case be revoked."I think it's troubling," said University of San Diego Law Professor Robert Muth in an interview with 10News. "As the Commander in Chief, it would be his prerogative to weigh in if he felt there was something wrong. However, that would be done in a very different way. You would expect it to be done discreetly."Gallagher was accused of several war crimes during a tour of duty in Iraq. The central charge was that he murdered a prisoner of war, a wounded teenage ISIS fighter. Gallagher was acquitted of that charge. The case drew national attention, including from President Trump, who suggested that Gallagher was a hero who was being treated unfairly. Several people criticized how the JAG prosecutors handled the case."President Trump saw that they were abusing their power," said John Dadian, a San Diego political strategist who also served in the Marine Corps. "Not only manacling him during the trial, but confining him to quarters, he had a hard time taling to his lawyers. That's not fair." Dadian says many military veterans believe the President did the right thing by stepping in.Muth is worried about the President's actions setting a precedent. "The fact that the President went and used the bully pulpit, specifically his Twitter account, to essentially punch down at relatively junior folks who by law can't punch back, they just have to take it, is particularly problematic." Muth says the President's public criticism could have a chilling effect on JAG prosecutors who may feel pressured not to handle a case in the way they believe it should be handled because they feel they would be attacked by the President for political reasons. "These are folks who signed up to serve their country and are now being personally attacked by the President of the United States when they're trying to do their job. This isn't the way to do it.
