GUANGZHOU, Nov. 2 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese man convicted of murdering 11 people including three police officers over five years were executed Tuesday in Foshan City, south China's Guangdong Province, a local court said.Listed as one of the top wanted suspects, Cheng Ruilong, 37, was arrested in 2005 and was sentenced to death for murder, robbery and rape by Foshan Municipal Intermediate People's Court in February 2010. He was found to have murdered 11 people in a string of violence between May 1996 and January 2005.Cheng, a Guangdong native, was originally convicted of murdering 13 but the court dropped the number of victims in July's hearing of Cheng's appeal as bodies of a woman and her daughter allegedly killed by Cheng were never found.He lost the appeal. His execution had been approved by the Supreme People's Court, officials with Foshan intermediate court said.

URUMQI, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) - China will upgrade an annual trade fair held in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, to a leading trade platform in the heart of Eurasia and to boost cross-border economic cooperation in a region vulnerable to unrest and violence.The China Urumqi Foreign Economic Relations and Trade Fair, which closed here Sunday, will be re-launched as China-Eurasia Expo beginning next year, government organizers said, and it will become an important exchange platform for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which includes China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan."The upgrading is overall and comprehensive," said China's Minister of Commerce Chen Deming, who heads the China-Eurasia Expo Organizing Committee.He said the Expo will serve as China's platform to reach out to the entire Asia and Europe rather than just central and south Asia.People visit the 19th Urumqi Trade Fair in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Sept. 4, 2010. BEIJING, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- The quota shift, or the voting power redistribution of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), is just the start of IMF reform, a senior Chinese foreign affairs official said here Friday."G-20 leaders have pleged that progress should be made in terms of IMF quota reform prior to the Seoul summit, and now we will honor the commitment," said Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Cui Tiankai at a news briefing on China's outlook for the G20 summit in Seoul next week.At a G-20 finance ministers' meeting held last month, participants agreed to shift six percent of the IMF quota to emerging or under-represented countries such as China, India and Brazil, from developed economies."This is obvious progress," Cui commented on the proposal forged at the minister-level meeting, adding that the Chinese side hoped the IMF's board would agree on the quota transfer."China is one of the under-represented countries and it's rational and sensible to give China more quota," said the vice foreign minister.China would not try to maximize its own interests, but seek an all-win situation with other emerging economies and other IMF members, Cui added.Cui said the quota shift was far from the end of the IMF reform and he looked forward to more changes to the financial institution."This is not the end, not even the beginning of the end, but the end of the beginning," Cui said.Many countries have said that the way to calculate the quota itself needs to be reformed, as well as the IMF governance structure.
