The Chicago Cubs have banned a fan indefinitely from Wrigley Field after he was seen on camera making an offensive hand gesture at a game this week.On Tuesday night's Cubs broadcast on NBC Sports Chicago, a fan was seen behind analyst Doug Glanville, a former MLB player who is black, giving a hand gesture that has been known as a white power sign.Crane Kenney, the Cubs' president of business operations, said in a statement after the game that the organization would investigate "because no one should be subjected to this type of offensive behavior.""An individual seated behind Mr. Glanville used what appears to be an offensive hand gesture that is associated with racism," the statement said. "Such ignorant and repulsive behavior is not tolerated at Wrigley Field."On Wednesday, Kenney said the fan violated the organization's guest code of conduct."As a result, after repeated attempts to reach this individual by phone, we sent a letter to the individual notifying him of our findings and our decision that, effectively immediately, he will not be permitted on the grounds of Wrigley Field or other ticketed areas indefinitely," Kenney said in a statement."We further communicated if he attempts to enter Wrigley Field or other ticketed areas he may be subject to prosecution for criminal trespass to property."The Cubs are not disclosing the name of the individual to the general public.The-CNN-Wire? & ? 2019 Cable News Network, Inc., a Time Warner Company. The body of Nevaeh Adams, a 5-year-old South Carolina girl who went missing in August, was found on Friday, the Sumter Police Department announced on Tuesday. Police used DNA to confirm the body found was Nevaeh's. Nevaeh's mother, Sharee Bradley, was also killed. Bradley's body was found on Aug. 5 in her apartment by a family member. The suspect, Daunte Johnson, has admitted to killing Bradley and her daughter, police say. Johnson told police that he put Nevaeh's body in a dumpster. Approximately 400 individuals from more than 40 agencies searched about 4 million pounds of material, Sumter Police said. Nevaeh had two other siblings, ages 3 and 12, who were unharmed. 687

The bill is signed and the federal trillion stimulus package is on the way.But many people are still confused and wonder if they will get a check for ,200.Here's what we do know about who will qualify for the stimulus funds laid out the CARES Act, as of April 8.Q: How will I receive my check? For those who received their last IRS tax refund via direct deposit, the money will go directly into their bank account. Those that received their refund the old-fashioned way, a check will come by mail. But that could take several months, the government says. The IRS is supposed to set up a portal on its website in the coming days, where anyone can update their bank account.Q: Will I qualify for a ,200 stimulus check?About 90% of adults should qualify for an initial ,200 stimulus payment, with a second payment possible later this spring. If they qualify:Individuals will receive a check for ,200.Married couples will receive a check for ,400.Each dependent child will receive 0 (payable to their parents). If your child is a college student who works a job, the rules are still murky as to who gets the check.Q: Who does not qualify for a check?High-income individuals will not receive a check.Benefits will phase out starting at ,000 in Adjusted Gross Income.Singles earning more than ,000 (Adjusted Gross Income) in 2019 will not receive any check.Married couples earning more than 8,000 in 2019 will not receive any check.Q: What if you owe back child support or back taxes?Right now, it does not appear the government will take anything out of stimulus checks for unpaid taxes or other government liens. However, the Wall Street Journal says back child support will likely be taken out of checks.Q: What if you get Social Security and do not file taxes?Seniors on Social Security and younger people on disability will now qualify for a check automatically. Those that receive Social Security do not have to file any tax forms, and the check will go to the same bank account (or mailbox) where they receive monthly benefit checks. However, younger people with very little income and not file taxes must have filed taxes last year or this spring in order to receive a check. That check will be based on your 2018 or 2019 tax return. So younger people must file a 1040 this spring, or the government has no way of knowing if they qualify.Q: What if some of your income is unreported cash? That should not affect the checks, as they are based on the last tax return a person has filed.Q: When will I receive my money?Congressional leaders hope to have the first checks heading to bank accounts in the next week or two. However, if the IRS does not have a bank account number on file, it could be three months before paper checks arrive. As always, don't waste your money._______________________________Don't Waste Your Money" is a registered trademark of Scripps Media, Inc. The debate of whether to drill for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) has been an ongoing issue in the country since 1977. As of 2017, the Republicans were successful in opening up drilling with the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. If the Trump Administration completes its review, an auction for drilling leases could happen by the end of the year. However, indigenous groups are trying to fight this possibility, claiming the drilling threatens their way of life. Leasing in ANWR was blocked for four decades prior to this. According to Energywire, the oil-dependent state has suffered from the industry's decline, and waning production on the North Slope threatens the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS) with a dwindling amount of oil that could fall below the minimum threshold to move. TAPS is both practically and symbolically central to the crude industry of Alaska.Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R) told Enerygywire in 2017, “Alaskans can now look forward to our best opportunity to refill the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System, thousands of jobs that will pay better wages, and potentially billion in royalties for our state alone."However, indigenous groups continue to fight to protect ANWR, not only for their way of life, but for the animals as well. “I am part of a long line of people born into Gwich’in nation of Fort Yukon, Alaska,” says Bernadette Demientieff, an outspoken activist against the drilling. The Gwich’in are comprised of 14 different communities of about 9,000 people. Demientieff is from Fort Yukon, Alaska, which is just south of ANWR. She lives in Fairbanks, Alaska now, but keeps to her indigenous roots with her family. “We pick berries every summer,” Demientieff says, while cleaning blueberries with her daughter. “It’s something our ancestors did and survived off. So, it’s something that has been handed down to us. It’s part of our culture and history, and it’s important we pass that knowledge and education to the next generation.”Demientieff advocates against the drilling in the refuge, because that’s where the Gwich’in’s main source of food breeds.“We do not worship the caribou, but we hold them to high standards,” she says. “The caribou has sustained the Gwich’in for thousands of years. They’ve taken care of us for thousands of years. Now, it’s our turn to take care of them. Gwich’in have always taken care of the land – we are stewards of the land. So, if something happens to the land it happens to the animals, then it happens to us.” Fort Yukon consists of about 800 people according to the second Chief Mike Peter. “The wild life refuge is where life begins,” Peter says. “Not even a footprint is in there, that’s where caribou migrate and have their calves. People still do hunt and fish and live off the land, and if drilling were to happen it would hurt us all.”The arctic caribou population has declined by half since the 90s, from around 4 million to 2 million. The Gwich’in fear this development would decrease this number even more. “This is the remaining caribou,” Dementieff says. “You know the rest of the arctic is opened to oil and gas development, and all the caribou population have declined in that area. And they can’t tell us that our food security is going to be impacted when we see different."ANWR posses what many geologists believe is the biggest untapped oil field remaining in the country, with economic potential in the billions. The development could create tens of thousands of jobs in the first decade, and it has potential of making the country more energy dependent. The effort could keep the state’s economy alive as well. However, the Gwich’in believe the cost of wildlife and their way of life is too high. “We are not going to give up,” Dementieff says. “We’re going to continue to go to the decision makers in DC.” 3839
