Traffic in Hillcrest will be impacted shortly. Motorists, please be patient and expect delays," the department added. "I've been racially profiled four times throughout my life," said the protest's organizer, Charles Brown. "I want discussions, I want conversations, this cannot continue to happen."Brown decided to plan the protest Tuesday.The protest ended before 2 p.m. in front of the pride flag in Hillcrest. "It symbolizes so much, it's very welcoming of anyone that wants to be accepted and I just thought that would be the perfect way to resolve today's event."Brown said he was happy to see the protest remaining peaceful, but was left slightly disappointment by one thing."I was hoping that some of the civic leaders would have shown up today," he said. Twitter says it has permanently banned an account linked to former Trump adviser Steve Bannon after he advocated violence against infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci and FBI director Christopher Wray.According to CNN, Twitter has banned the account for Bannon's podcast, "War Room: Pandemic." In an episode that was published on mutliple online platforms Thursday, Bannon falsely claimed that President Donald Trump had won the 2020 election (the race is still too close to call) and added that Trump should fire both Wray and Fauci in his next term."I'd put the heads on pikes. Right. I'd put them at the two corners of the White House as a warning to federal bureaucrats," Bannon said, according to CNN. "You either get with the program or you are gone."In addition to the actions by Twitter, the video was also removed from Facebook and YouTube. UPDATE: 9:15 P.M.A man has been taken into custody after an hours-long standoff with officers at a Hillcrest rehabilitation center.SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police Department officers are surrounding a Hillcrest neighborhood Saturday working to peacefully end a standoff with a person believed to be armed.According to SDPD's official Twitter page, the incident started around 4 p.m. after receiving reports about a man with a gun in the 4000 block of Sixth Avenue, east of Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego.Police told 10News that around 4 p.m., an employee of the Hillcrest Health and Rehabilitation Center found a homeless man showering in a facility bathroom-laundry room.The man barricaded himself in the bathroom and has refused to speak with police. He has also vandalized the room using a fire extinguisher.The room is isolated away from the rest of the rehabilitation center, so patients there have not been evacuated but are being told to shelter in place.Police have called on the department's Emergency Negotiating Team and a SWAT team to assist with the incident. 1087
