SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Five locations of the San Diego County YMCA reopened today. They include Dan McKinney, Jackie Robinson, Magdalena Ecke, McGrath Family, and the Mission Valley branches. But with ever-changing rules by the State and County, staff and members of the YMCA understand that this reopening may be short-lived.Twice a day, Doug Harrigan would come to the Mission Valley YMCA. But since the COVID-19 quarantine began, he switched to working out at home."It's been rough," Harrigan said. Now he's back."I had a chance to talk to the members that I used to see on a regular basis, and it just felt good to do a real workout in a gym rather than my living room."Starting July 1, 2020, Mission Valley, Dan McKinney (La Jolla), Jackie Robinson (Mt. Hope), Magdalena Ecke (Encinitas), and McGrath Family (Spring Valley) YMCA branches are open, at a modified capacity."Masks required, health check stations, signage everywhere, and we've separated the fitness equipment to the 6-foot social distancing requirements," Assistant Executive Director of the Mission Valley YMCA, Jason Milosh said.At this point, group exercise classes and pools remain closed.Last week, some branches, including Mission Valley, opened up its Kids Day Camps. This year, space is extremely limited due to social distancing rules, and there will not be any field trips. But parents are happy that they are keeping busy."Summer learning loss has been aggravated by the challenges that our school system has had in the last few months of school," Molish said. "So, we have incorporated some more academic components to our summer camps to help kids bridge that summer learning loss."But with the State and County coming out with new rules, seemingly every week, gyms and community centers like the YMCA, must be flexible."Re-closing is a possibility, and we are prepared for that," Milosh said. "We feel good about the precautions that we have taken, but if things worsen and it is determined that we need to close, then we are going to be prepared to do that."But for Harrigan, he hopes it does not come down to that, because with the YMCA, he says he would look and feel much different."It is essential. If I did not work out, I'd probably be 250 pounds," Harrigan laughed. On July 8, 2020, four more San Diego County YMCA branches will open. Those include Cameron Family (Santee), Copely-Price (City Heights), Toby Wells (Kearny Mesa), and the South Bay (Chula Vista) Family branches.Milosh also says he also hopes to reopen the pools for lap swim workouts by next week. For more information about YMCA reopenings, click HERE. 2612

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - For nearly five months we've completely changed the way we live due to the pandemic. We still don't have many answers and we're aways from things getting back to normal. Psychologists are noticing the impact is huge on their patients and this far into the pandemic, they're seeing burnout."The keyword here is feeling overwhelmed. If you feel overwhelmed there's a strong association to burnout," Licensed Psychologist Dr. Michelle Carcel said.Carcel said if you feel overwhelmed, stop, sit down and figure out what is triggering these strong feelings, "map out what is triggering you the most, so if you're having work stressors, for example, identify the current stressors you're having and problem-solving."She said working on ways to solve those problems will dissipate those feelings. For parents who are juggling multiple roles as school approaches, she said plan it out as well. "Figuring out, okay. what is it I have to do in order to mitigate my roles here and partner with friends family or your spouse in order to make that effective," Carcel said.Carcel said it's important to recognize any anger or irritation that comes up is based on the pain we are feeling, and knowing it's okay to feel this way."Process your grief for the state of the world, process your grief for the current situation, it will help move you forward," she said. "We have never seen anything like this where an entire world has been impacted and we are seeing detrimental effects."Ways to heal include finding joy. She suggests creating a list of things that make you happy so you can go to them at a moment's notice.Carcel added that creating a happy playlist, dancing, picking up a hobby, or checking off items on your bucket list."Right now is a wonderful time if you've ever wanted to play an instrument this is the time to learn, if you've wanted to learn a foreign language this is the time to learn," Carcel said, noting the most important thing is to remember this is not forever. She said you can do it and you have a support system, people who love and support you. Just because you have to be distant physically, doesn't mean you have to be isolated."We can take anything that's negative and produce a positive outcome as long as we have a good strategy to do it," she said. 2295

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Gov. Gavin Newsom said Tuesday he's worried about family gatherings around California ahead of the Fourth of July weekend and will announce new measures to dial back reopenings on Wednesday.Newsom said the prospect of family gatherings, not just bars or demonstrations, this weekend has health officers worried about the continued spread of the coronavirus. He added that new measures related to enforcement will also be announced on Wednesday."Tomorrow we will be making some additional announcements on efforts to use that dimmer switch we've referred to and begin to toggle back on our stay-at-home order and tighten things up," Newsom said. "The framework for us is this: If you're not going to stay home and you're not going to wear masks in public we have to enforce — and we will, and we will be making announcements on enforcement tomorrow — but we also have to recognize that the spread when you're not at home, in indoor facilities, is much more probable than in outdoor settings."RELATED: San Diego County to close bars that don't serve food ahead of July 4 to slow COVID-19 spreadNew York adds California, 7 other states to traveler quarantine listLast weekend, Newsom ordered bars in Los Angeles County and six other counties to close — a move which San Diego County followed to a degree on Monday. There are 19 counties currently on the state's watch list. The governor says four more counties will likely be added to that watch list in the next day.An additional 6,367 COVID-19 cases were reported across the state in the last day, according to the state. 1596

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Family, friends and fellow Airmen gathered to pay a final salute to a San Diego Air Force pilot killed in a training accident last month. Second Lieutenant Travis Wilkie was buried with full military honors today at Miramar National Cemetery. It was a somber scene as a horse-drawn carriage arrived with the casket carrying the 23-year-old graduate of the Air Force Academy in Colorado. Wilkie's parents, sister, and new wife, Peyton looked on as members of the Base Honor Guard escorted the flag-draped coffin. Two T-38 Talon jets were landing in formation when something went wrong. Wilkie excelled in everything he did. He was a standout baseball player and honors student at La Jolla Country Day School. He continued playing ball and setting records at the Air Force Academy. He graduated from the academy in 2018 and was just weeks away from getting his wings, according to a statement by the family. Wilkie and his girlfriend had just married in October. Peyton is also in the Air Force. Military officials say it could be a couple of months before they know what caused the crash. 1308
