The Association of American Universities has released results of a survey they conducted looking into the sexual assault and sexual misconduct climate on college campuses. The survey is a follow-up to the organization's campus climate survey in 2015 and campus activities survey in 2017, and on a much larger scale. According to the AAU, 181,752 students participated in the survey from 33 colleges and 32 AAU member schools. In 2015, they had 150,072 respondents.Of the students surveyed in the 2019 study, nearly 60 percent were undergraduate students while 40 percent were graduate and professional students. Of those surveyed, 53 percent were from private institutions while 47 percent were from public. The survey also states that is has "one of the largest sample sizes of self-identified transgender, non-binary, and other TGQN students ever studied."Key findings from the study include:– The overall rate of non-consensual sexual contact by physical force or inability to consent since a student enrolled was 13 percent, with rates higher for women and transgender, genderqueer and non-binary people, than men.– In the case of the 21 schools who participated in 2015 and 2019, the rate of non-consensual sexual contact by physical force or inability to consent increased to 26.4 percent for undergrad women, 10.8 percent for graduate or processional women and 6.9 percent for undergraduate men"The survey found significant levels of sexual misconduct on campus, disparities in the prevalence of sexual misconduct among different categories of students, and changes from the 2015 results in student knowledge about sexual misconduct," the survey says.According to the report, women and people who identity as TGQN see sexual assault and other misconduct at the school as more problematic than men do.In addition, 77 percent of undergraduate women say that it is at least "somewhat" problematic at their school, while 72 percent of graduate women say the same. For those who identity as TGQN, 75 percent of undergrads and 56 percent of graduate students say it's "somewhat" problematic, while 45 percent of undergraduate men and 43 percent of graduate men say it's "somewhat" problematic. The 21-year-old shooter who killed at least 20 people and injured 26 others in an El Paso, Texas, Walmart on Saturday is believed to have authored a racist, anti-immigrant document that laid out a dark vision of America overrun by Hispanic immigrants. With the hate-filled writing, which authorities called a 'manifesto,' were the words: "I'm probably going to die today."Sources identified the suspect as Patrick Crusius, of Allen, Texas. He has been charged with capital murder and is being held without bond, El Paso Police Sgt. Robert Gomez said Sunday evening. The four-page document, titled "The Inconvenient Truth," was published on the online message board 8chan about 20 minutes before the shooting. The writing is filled with white supremacist language and racist hatred aimed at immigrants and Latinos, and the author says he opposes "race mixing" and encourages immigrants to return to their home countries. Some of the language of the manifesto reflects ideas from President Trump, Fox News and the modern Republican party. For example, the document warns of a " 1084

The list of places intended for sporting events, entertainment, and other everyday activities, that are instead being used as temporary hospitals just got longer. On Tuesday, work began to convert the indoor tennis center at the Billie Jean King U.S. Open facility into a 350-bed temporary hospital. It joins a group of nine locations in or near New York City being converted into temporary hospitals. All but one of the temporary facilities are intended to handle non-coronavirus patients. However, doctors are fast learning that there may be no such thing."That was one of the initial most surprising things for us," said Dr. Eric Wei, NYC Health + Hospitals' chief quality officer. "People who got hit by cars or were beat up," Dr. Wei continued, "had pneumonia that's consistent for COVID-19."It's why the city is now instructing its medical personnel to assume that all patients have coronavirus. The temporary facilities are part of a constellation of hospitals in the city and its suburbs where patients can be moved and treated, depending on their condition. More than 170 hospitals and temporary hospitals are part of the network, and on Monday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo promised that a central command center would be operational by Tuesday to coordinate them all. "It is up and running," said Deanne Criswell, the city's emergency management commissioner at a news conference on Tuesday afternoon. "It's located at the Javits Center."Criswell added that, for now, the command center is only coordinating between two locations, the U.S.N.S. Comfort hospital ship, and the temporary hospital at the Jacob Javits Center. The full center is not expected to be fully operational until next week. 1705

The National Archives is apologizing for its decision to blur images of anti-Trump signs used as part of an exhibit on women's suffrage. The independent agency is charged with preserving government and historical records and said it has always done so “without alteration.” But the archives acknowledged in a statement Saturday making a mistake after 363
